Welcome to Rwanda!
Take a Night-time Game Drive
After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you'll head to Akagera National Park.
The park covers 2500 km² of savannah west of the Kagera River, in the north-east of Rwanda. Here you can find a wide variety of wildlife and over 500 different species of birds. Herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while you might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena, or even a lion.
In the afternoon, you'll take a long game drive in the park. Afterward, return to your lodge and enjoy a nice hot meal in the evening.
At night, your adventure begins again! Head out with a spotlight to spot predators on the prowl. On this 2-hour game drive, you'll get a truly different perspective of the park. You might see a few leopards, lions, civets, serval cats, hyenas, birds as well as bush babies with their large eyes.
Spot Wildlife on a Game Drive and Boat Ride
Today you will go for another game drive in the park to search for more wildlife. As you travel through the impressive Savannah grasslands, watch out for animals like lions, leopards, elephants, antelopes and many more.
Enjoy lunch after the game drive, before setting out on a boat ride on Akagera River. Here you'll be in search of water-loving animals like hippos, and crocodiles.
Return to your lodge for dinner.
Visit Kigali Genocide Memorial Center and Journey to Bwindi National Park
First, you'll journey back to Kigali from AkageraNational Park.
When you reach Kigali, you'll have time to visit the Genocide Memorial Center, the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 and promotes education and peace-building.
Afterward, you will take a 4.5 hours transfer to your lodge in Bwindi National Park. Tomorrow you'll be going gorilla tracking!
Come Face to Face with Gorillas
After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for a vital briefing prior to trekking to the gorillas hidden in the thick impenetrable forest.
You will get to spend an hour with the gorillas after having trekked for about 2-8 hours. How will it feel to see these majestic animals up close in their natural environment?
If you have time and still feel strong afterward, you can take a brief walk to the local Batwa community. Check out their curio shops, children’s school and learn more about their unique culture.
There is the option to further customize your tour with a gorilla habituation experience on this day, for an additional price.
See Tree-Climbing Lions and Take a Boat Ride
After breakfast, start your journey through the Ishasha sector to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You will have a game drive en route — watch out for tree-climbing lions in particular!
In the afternoon, you will go for a boat ride on the Kazinga channel that connects the two lakes Edward and George. On the cruise, you'll have the chance to spot game like hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and birds at the shores.
Return to your accommodation for dinner and have a real bush experience overnight in a bush lodge.
Track Lions and Take a Boat Safari
Today you will go with a member of the research team to follow a group of lions. You'll be using radio tracking, making it possible for you to get up close.
You’ll learn about the lion's role in the ecosystem and the challenges the lions and the local population face living together.
Later on, take a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel and then head back to your lodge.
Experience a Nocturnal Walk in Kibale Forest
Your nocturnal forest walk in Kibale Forest takes place after you have had dinner at your lodge (7:30 pm).
First, you will have a brief orientation from Uganda Wildlife Authority Rangers and then it is off onto the trail into the jungle.
Kibale is where the jungle of West and Central Africa meets Uganda. The park is a fascinating place to explore during the daytime, but you'll find it is a whole other world at night.
While one portion of the animals and birds go to sleep, the nocturnal world comes alive. The sounds of the
forest change from the cries and chatter of chimpanzees to the eerie sounding shrieks of the tree hyrax.
Battery-powered spotlights are used to illuminate the trail and enable you to spot animals, birds, and other creatures of the night that you encounter.
Beyond even seeing various creatures, the feeling of being immersed in the jungle at nighttime is extraordinary.
Meet the Chimps in Kibale National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park for a briefing about the dos and don’ts while with a community of chimpanzees.
After the briefing, you will start your trek deep into the forest.
You will spend the whole day in the forest with guides and researchers during your chimp habituation experience. Learn more about these amazing primates and get-up-close with humanity's close relations!
At the end of this memorable day, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Journey to Murchison Falls National Park
Today you'll drive north via Hoima to Murchison Falls, traveling through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms.
Try to Spot the Most Sought-After Bird in Africa
After a hearty breakfast, you'll embark on an early morning game drive where you are likely to spot animals like lions, buffaloes, waterbuck, Jackson’s hartebeest, and Rothschild’s giraffe among others.
Return for lunch at the lodge, which will be followed by a breathtaking launch cruise. This will give you a great chance to see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and several water birds such as the shoebill stork — the most sought-after bird in Africa!
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Discover the Savannah at Kidepo Valley National Park
Enjoy your savannah-inspired lodging, located at the edge of one of the most beautiful national parks in Uganda!
Start your journey from Murchison Falls National Park, to the grassland and outcrop surroundings that await you. Also, you'll encounter the Karamojong tribe with their manyattas and colorful blankets.
The savannah itself is one of the most stunningly beautiful reserves located in the remote Kidepo Valley National Park. Once you've checked into your hotel, you will be able to explore the territory with game drives and nature walks visiting the Lamoj Mountains and the Kidepo River Valley.
While exploring the park, you will be able to spot its rich population of raptors and diverse species of birds.
Make the Most of Kidepo Valley National Park
Kick your day off with a walking Safari tour through the swaths of the savannah studded with hills and rock clusters, and its forest-flanked Lorupei River.
Afterward, you'll join an afternoon game drive to spot more wildlife, including greater and lesser kudu, elands, lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and a variety of game from the plains.
Explore the Small Town of Kotido
After all the wildlife viewing, head to the small town of Kotido, located in the district of Northern Karamoja.
Check into your cozy bed and breakfast and prepare for a walk through town.
Here, you will have the opportunity to meet the friendly locals and get to know the burgeoning cultural scene.
The main group of people who live here are the Jie, a Karimojong subgroup. Since the 2008 disarmament, safety is very good in this region.
Return to Entebbe
After all your wild adventures and cultural explorations, it's time to head back to your hotel in Entebbe.
You can enjoy a relaxing day at your accommodations or why not go for a stroll along the lake?
