The Best Of The Old Capital - León
In the morning, you'll leave for León, the old capital of Nicaragua. This magnificent colonial city is the ideal point of departure in order to discover the region and its volcanoes and Pacific beaches. If you wish, you can visit the artisanal factory of bricks and tiles. You have the whole day to admire the beauty of León at your own pace!
Visit the indigenous neighborhood of Sutiaba and the Ruben Dario's museum - the mythic child of the Nicaraguan letters. Stop by the impressive cathedral standing in the central park and climb up to its roof in order to admire the panoramic view.
As you walk through the streets of León, open your eyes and look closely - many revolutionary murals are hidden in plain sight!
Drop By The Stunning Cerro Negro Volcano
Today, you will visit the Pacific coast and the village of Las Peñitas. The natural reserve of Juan Venado island is 22km long.
Take a boat and discover the mangroves, then look for turtles, caimans, and iguanas. Located in front of the beach, this island is also the refuge of numerous species of birds.
150 years old, the Cerro Negro volcano is the most active in Nicaragua. 725m high, its other name is "Black Mountain". Climb to the top, take in the spectacular view and look at the crater, before descending.
Explore Masaya And Its Natural Beauty
Spend your morning as you will in León, before leaving for the National Park of Masaya to observe the immense crater of the still active volcano there which is often called "boca del infierno" ("mouth of hell").
Later, visit the local market of Masaya, one of the most important in the country and marvel at the craftsmanship.
You can also visit the little village of Catarina, whose principal activity is the making of furniture with bamboo. In the village, you will have the chance to observe a breathtaking view of Granada, the big Lake and its Isletas, the Laguna de Apoyo and the Mombacho volcano.
Enjoy A Day Of Shopping And Sightseeing At Granada
Today, go on a discovery walk of Granada, a colonial treasure. On the tour, you will learn about the history of the place.
Visit the Cathedral, the church of La Merced and the church of Xalteva which was originally the center of the city. Then pass through the central market and its colored stalls before stopping by the Polvora Fortress. From there, enjoy the superb view.
Spend half the day on a trip to the Archipelago de Las Isletas- a set of islands off the coast of Granada. You will go by boat to navigate these islands where Nicaraguans have established their vacation homes today.
There are about 400 basalt islands and you will have the opportunity to enjoy an excellent view of the volcano Mombacho and observe many animals.
Become Enticed By The Lovely Ometepe Island
Rise and shine! Today, take the road up to the port of San Jorge and boarding the ferry to the island of Ometepe. Blessed with crystal clear waters and beaches of the softest sand, Ometepe is one of Granada's wonders.

Explore And Rejuvenate Youself At Ometepe Island

You can take a stroll following the footsteps of petroglyphs, mysterious footprints in stone left by the Chorotega Indians, some of which are older than 1500 years. You can also go kayaking for a half day in the mangroves in the Istian isthmus.
To relax, visit the Ojo de agua, a natural swimming pool which is thermally heated. Hiking enthusiasts can go see the San Ramon waterfall.
Take A Ferry To Gorgeous Costa Rica
Early in the morning, you will head to the port of Moyogalpa to take the ferry. Once you've arrived in Rivas, you will leave for Costa Rica, stopping at the town of Peñas Blancas.
Once in Costa Rica, head south to La Fortuna and the impressive Arenal Volcano, via the Panamerican highway. You will drive through Liberia, the capital city of Guanacaste, nicknamed the White City.
Walk Across The Magnificent Hanging Bridges At Arenal
Today, take a 3-kilometer path which will lead you through the primary forest to Arenal.
You will enjoy a stunning view of the tropical vegetation and of the Arenal volcano while crossing over 8 fixed bridges and 6 hanging bridges over the canopy. Remember to bring walking shoes, otherwise, you will not be allowed to enter the park!
In the late afternoon, treat yourself to a relaxing time in the spa resort of Eco Termales in an intimate setting. The warm waters of "Eco Spa" come directly from the hot springs of the Arenal volcano, naturally heated and pure.
The Green Splendor Of The Monteverde Reserve
Today, you will head to Monteverde, which offers alpine pastures landscapes in the heart of the Tilaràn cordillera. Monteverde is world famous for its cloudy tropical forest which contributes to the reputation of Costa Rica as an eco-tourist country. It also shelters extraordinary fauna and vegetation.
On the way, you can enjoy the stunning view of the Arenal Lake. Don't forget to bring your camera and capture the splendid scenery! You will pass Tilaran, Quebrada Grande, and Cabaceras before reaching the cloud forest typical of the area, and finally Santa Elena.
At dusk, you will explore the tropical forest when most of the animals begin to be active. You will see numerous insects, owls, and even snakes.
Immerse Yourself In The Wild Beauty Of Curi Cancha Reserve
Today, you will visit Curi Cancha Reserve. Walk through the different trails in this unique cloud forest ecosystem. If you pay attention - and with a little luck - you might be able to spot the famous Quetzal, whose furs used to be used as decorations by the Aztecs.
You will later explore the rural traditions of Costa Rica. Learn the secrets of the cocoa and coffee production which are the traditional drinks of the country.
