Welcome to Mexico City, Mexico’s fascinating capital! Land at the airport, where you will be greeted by one of our representatives and taken to your hotel. It is time for your adventure through Mexico City to begin! Start your walking tour of the city at Zocalo square. Don’t miss the largest cathedral on the continent, which was built on the former site of the grand Aztec temple “Teocalli” and houses many alters adorned with gold. Afterwards, move on to visit the Palacio National, home to the president’s office and decorated with murals created by the famous artist Diego Rivera. As a final stop, head to Templo Mayor, part of the remains of Tenochtitlan, an ancient Aztec capital. The ancient architechture in the middle of a modern city will leave you stunned.
Taste the flavors of Mexico!
Today, meet Yvonne, who will introduce you to the exotic and traditional arts of Mexican cuisine. Learn about the local gastronomy before jumping in yourself! Together, learn to prepare a traditional delicious Mexican dish. Of course, learning to cook like this would not be perfect without the ending - eating your amazing self-made meal for lunch! In the afternoon, pay a visit to the National Museum of Anthropology, the most impressive museum in the country which brings its antiquities to life. Located in Chapultepec Park, the museum fits amazing into the surrounding scenery. Stroll through the museum and get a unique look at Mexico’s diverse culture and captivating history. The museum features many pre-Columbian artifacts and a wonderful exhibit on the indigenous peoples of the region. Something you cannot miss!
Visit the Stunning City of the Gods
Spend the day getting up close and personal with Mexico’s ancient history. After breakfast, depart your hotel for an excursion outside the city. First stop is the Basilica of our Lady of Gaudalupe, one of the most important religious sites in all of Latin America - the Basilica is a major pilgrimage destination for Roman Catholics around the world. Then, it’s off to one of Mexico’s most impressive spots: the archeological site of Teotihuacan. Featuring ancient constructions such as the Pyramid of the Moon, the Pyramid of the Sun, the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, and the Palace of the Jaguars, Teotihuacan is commonly referred to as “The City of the Gods”. It’s remains survive from the 7th century. After that, head to an obsidian workshop. End your day traveling back to your hotel in the city.
Culture in Art and Architecture
Do you like to experience culture through local art? Well, today is yours! Enjoy breakfast in your hotel before heading out to the village of Coyoacan, home to many local artists. Feel the lovely charm of the city along its cobblestone streets, and rest your feet on a bench in the square if you want a break from the midday sun. One of the main stops here is the Frida Khalo museum, where the bohemian vibes of the painter herself can be felt. After visiting Coyoacan, move on to experience the district of San Angel, where you can enjoy many examples of colonial and pre-revolutionary architecture. Lunch will then be served on a boat as you float across the scenic Xochimilco Lake south of the city as you enjoy the colorful vibe of Mexico. In the evening, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
After you’ve enjoyed your breakfast, it is time to pack your bags. Your adventure through Mexico City has sadly come to an end.
