Welcome to Yangon! Are you excited to experience the beauty of Myanmar? Prepare to be charmed by the classic wonder of this place! As you arrive in Yangon, your guide will transfer you to your hotel.
Bask in the beauty of Yangon, the largest city of Myanmar, with its mix of modern and British colonial architecture and the famous gilded Buddhist pagodas defining its skyline. In the afternoon, be dazzled by the beauty of the Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda as it stands proudly with its crown that glitters with diamonds and other precious stones. Before you end your day in Yangon, you will see one of the wonders of the world, the Shwedagon Pagoda, a shimmering complex to which thousands of pilgrims are drawn annually is truly worth visiting.
Midnight Train to Mandalay
Experience the nostalgia first-hand as you drive through town and embrace the history of Myanmar. The streets are filled with historical buildings which faded colonial charm cannot be seen anywhere else in Asia. You can see the lovely post office building, the Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument, to name a few, as you tour the town.
In the evening, experience traveling on a train at midnight to your next destination, Mandalay, where more excitement awaits you.
Spend A Day In Mandalay
Begin your morning with breakfast at a local tea shop followed by a short time to relax at the hotel. As you continue your tour of Myanmar in the afternoon, you will visit two of the most famous pagodas. You’ll be in awe watching the 13 foot high Buddha in Mahamuni Pogada and the ‘World’s Biggest Book’ in Kuthodaw Pagoda, a 729 marble slab of Buddhist scriptures. Now if that’s not enough, experience time travel as you visit the only remaining building from the 19th century, the Royal Palace, and get a chance to see the exquisite wood carving of the Shwenandaw Monastery! Before you end your day, watch the sunset from the Mandalay Hill and enjoy the magnificent view of the city and the Irrawaddy River.
Getting to Know Amarapura, Sagaing Hill, and Ava!
After breakfast, you'll tour in the ‘City of Immortality’ known as Amarapura. Tap into your creativity and attend a silk weaving workshop, you'll feast your eyes on the exquisite handmade products with intricate designs and patterns. Along the way, you'll pass by the Mahagandayon monastery, the home of thousands of monks and cross the U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest bridge! As you stroll along the bridge, enjoy the fabulous view of the surrounding farms and streams. Continue your tour to Sagaing Hill, the religious center of Myanmar. You can visit more pagodas here like the Swan OoPon Nya Shin and U Min ThoneSae. In the afternoon, you will ride a local ferry boat to explore Ava, one of the ancient cities. You will continue your tour plodding a horse cart and visit monasteries and Nanmyin, the leaning watchtower of Ava!
Finally, you will go back to Mandalay to rest for the night.
River Cruise To Bagan
Who can say no to a cruise?! Enjoy the view and scenery of the Ayerwaddy River and observe the life of the local villagers and fishermen as you sail along the banks of the river to Bagan. Once you arrive in Bagan, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can have a good night’s sleep to prepare for tomorrow’s exploration of Bagan.
Explore the Arts and Handicrafts in Bagan!
You’ll start the day by visiting the Golden Shwezigon Pagoda. Then explore the Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple where you can see the well-known jataka mural paintings and appreciate the elegance of the Htilominlo Temple.
Do you ever wonder how Myanmar’s best-known handicrafts are made? Get a chance to observe the production of these lovely crafts by visiting a traditional lacquer ware workshop in the afternoon. Then continue visiting the most beautiful temples of Bagan where you can enjoy the unforgettable sunset over the plains as you climb in the upper terraces of the temples.
Getting Up Close And Personal With Bagan Villagers
After having breakfast, you will visit the Nyaung Oo Market and check out the produce of the villagers. You can buy anything you fancy or you can just observe how they buy and sell their goods. Then you will continue to Phwar Saw village and discover the life of the villagers. You can spend your afternoon for relaxation at the hotel or you can continue to explore Bagan.
This will be your last day in Bagan so make the most of your day!
Bye Bagan, Hello Nyaung Shwe!
In the morning, you will leave for Ngyaung Shwe, traveling by bus to the next destination. You can rest during the ride or you can enjoy the view of your overland journey to Ngyaung Shwe.
Once you arrive in the afternoon, you can choose to rest at the hotel or start exploring the town with the most vibrant atmosphere.
Discover The Beauty Of Inle Lake
Today, you will ride on a boat and head out to one of the most spectacular views of Myanmar, the famous Inle Lake. Take in the sights of floating gardens and villages built on stilts over the lake. You can observe a lot of leg-rowing fishermen as you take in the refreshing view of the scenery. You will visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, famous for the 800 years old Five Buddha statues which are covered in gold leaf. This must be quite a sight!
Then you can explore the local crafts at the weaving Village of Inpawkhone and the Burmese cigars made by hand at the cheroot factory.
Discover The Hidden Beauty of Indein!
Start the day by exploring the lake's morning market, where the locals make their trade of their wares. The trade here is amazing as it follows a 5-day rhythm. The market rotates its location around the villages. One of the attractions here is hidden from plain view. If you like adventure and a little bit of mystery, then this day is for you! In order to get there, you will go to Indein populated by the ethnic Padaung, also known as the ‘long neck women’.
You will walk on foot on a covered alley of thousands of Pagodas and continue to walk on the long covered staircase. You will be greeted by the magnificent complex of Alaung Sithu in a beautiful scenery of ancient stupas and the panoramic view of the lake. This view is truly breathtaking and is worth the walk!
The Last Glimpse of Inle Lake
This is your last day at Nyaung Shwe, you will be transferred to Heho airport for your flight to Yangon. Don’t be sad just yet as we will be making a short stop at the wooden Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery. This monastery stands in elegance with its oval-shaped windows.
Then you will be taken to the airport. As your plane takes off, you will be able to see how beautiful Inle Lake is from above. Once you arrive in Yangon, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and rest for the remainder of the day.
