The Modern City of Lima
Upon your arrival in Lima, our representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel, located in the district of Miraflores, a safe and fashionable district where you can walk and get your first glimpse of Lima. After a long flight, you'll be free to explore on your own, or relax at the hotel. The adventure begins tomorrow!

Dunes and Lagoons
In the morning you'll hop on a bus from Lima to Ica. Along the way, you'll pass fields of cotton, yellow peppers, and several small villages. Huacachina, called "The Oasis of America", draws visitors from around the world to sandboard and take buggy rides on the massive dunes which soar several hundred feet over the town. In Huacachina you will have lunch in front of the Lagoon before going on a gut-wrenching buggy tour through the desert. Beginning in the oasis of Huacachina, you'll drive westward where the most beautiful dune formations are found. After this adventure you'll return to the bus and head off to the city of Nazca (2 hours).

The Mysterious Nazca Lines
You'll be picked up early in the morning from your hotel and taken to the Maria Reich airport. Before boarding the plane, you'll watch a short documentary about the Nazca Lines to get an idea of the history and legend of the figures you'll be seeing from the air. You'll also be visiting the Chauchilla Cemetery, where old mummies lie in the open among ancient bones and pottery. After this you will be taken to a small pottery factory where the locals still produce the famous Nazca ceramics. At the end of the day, you'll board a very comfortable bus for your overnight journey to Arequipa, a 10-hour ride.
The White City
In the morning you'll arrive in Arequipa ,where you'll be collected by our staff and taken to your hotel situated in the city center. This romantic hotel is close to the most impressive museums in town. Arequipa is a beautiful city, founded by the Spanish, and known as the "White City." Arequipa is full of fine colonial buildings and surrounded by stunning natural scenery. Your city tour will show you the main buildings, such as the very famous Santa Catalina Convent, and take you to the area surrounding Arequipa, where you'll eat lunch. You'll return to the city where you'll have some free time in the evening to explore on your own.

Colca Valley Biking and Hot Springs
Today your bus will pick you up directly at your hotel and you'll head off to visit the Colca Valley. On the way you will observe llamas, vicuñas, and alpacas in the Aguada Blanca Reserve, where you'll be stopping to acclimatize to the altitude and enjoy some classic coca leaf tea. You'll then descend into the town of Chivay, the main village in the Colca Valley. A typical lunch will be served there before you start your adventure-biking tour down to the charming town of Yanque. You'll arrive at your hotel located next to the Colca River. The lodge is blessed with its own hot springs rich in lithium, an element that promotes relaxation. It has been carefully designed to offer a sense of well being, comfort and relaxation in the natural surroundings of the Colca River Valley. You'll have dinner and stay at the lodge this evening.

Flight of Condors
After a good night's rest you'll visit Cruz del Condor, the place to go to see the giant Andean Condors in flight. You'll have one hour to observe the marvelous flight of these magnificent birds before the tourist bus picks you up for your transfer to the town of Chivay. You'll have lunch here before continuing your journey to the city of Puno. Arriving in the evening you'll be taken to your hotel for a well-deserved night's rest!

Kayaking among the clouds on Lake Titicaca
Today you're going kayaking on the world´s highest navigable lake. Once you reach the launch point in Llachon you'll have a briefing and receive the appropriate safety equipment. The group will embark on a three to four hour kayak adventure to Amantani Island. Upon arrival you'll disembark, store your kayaks on the shore and settle in for lunch. You'll spend the rest of the day exploring the island and spend the night at a rural lodge overlooking the lake, with private bathrooms and beautiful views of the Cordillera Real.

Today you'll take a 2-hour boat trip along the spectacular shores of Lake Titicaca to Taquile Island, a long, narrow strip of land in the middle of the lake. This hilly island, approximately 15km2, was used as a prison when it belonged to the Spanish. You will meet its inhabitants and admire their colorful textile fabrics, which have been their staple trade since before history can remember. Here you can take a scenic trek around the island, followed by lunch in a local restaurant, before heading back to Puno in the afternoon. You'll have free time this evening to enjoy this quirky little town on the lake shore.

The Most Beautiful Train Ride in South America
Today you'll transfer onto rail, and have the chance to enjoy the mystical landscape of the Peruvian Andes aboard our luxury train, the Andean Explorer. Riding the Andean Explorer is a unique experience, which journeys between mountains and clouds, past soaring peaks, and expansive highlands. This ten-hour train trip sets off from the majestic Lake Titicaca, and takes its travelers through the changing landscapes and unpredictable weather to arrive in Cusco. Here you will be transferred to your hotel and have the evening free to stretch your legs in the city, or take it easy with a cold Cusqueña beer.

"Old" and "New" History in the Streets of Cusco
Today you'll be visiting the Incan palaces, the traditional neighborhoods, the fruit market, and Cusco's main square, La Plaza de Armas. You'll be walking with your tour guide and having lunch in a local restaurant along the way. After lunch, you'll be driven to the most important archaeological sites near Cusco, such as Kenko, Puka Pukara and Sacsayhuamán, the former capital of the Incan Empire, constructed from giant boulders intricately cut to fit together without the use of mortar. This fascinating ancient ruin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as is the historic city of Cusco.

Hiking inca trail to Huchuy Qosqo
You'll be picked up early from your hotel and taken to the small village of Tauca, the starting point of your great trek. Your walk will be accompanied by a fantastic group of llamas, who'll help carry your luggage to the Incan archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo. Your trek begins on level terrain, then leads on through the typical Andean valley, rich in corn, potatoes, barley and quinoa. You will walk along the Inca trail for about 3 hours, ascending to a pass at 4,050m. As you go, you'll notice the landscape begin to change dramatically as the rich green valley fades into the high Andean savannah or "Puna," with scant vegetation; mainly “ichu” or high altitude grasses. Once at Huchuy Qosqo, you will receive a guided tour and share your lunch with a local family. You'll then continue your descent to Lamay, where your guide will drive you to Ollantaytambo to catch the train to Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu.

The Big Day: Machu Picchu
You'll wake up very early to board a bus up to Machu Picchu. On arrival you'll start with a complete guided tour of the Inca citadel, which will take approximately two hours. You will then have free time to walk around, practice your photography skills, pet the llamas, or climb Huayna Picchu (optional). Huayna Picchu, known as the big brother to Machu Picchu, is the mountain in the background of all the pictures you usually see. From here you can appreciate spectacular views back down over Machu Picchu. When you've had your fill of the ruins, you'll go back down to Aguas Calientes for a buffet lunch and a half-day hike through the amazing environment of Mandor Pampa, close to the village of Aguas Calientes. Mandor Pampa is considered to be the entrance to the Peruvian cloud forest, and a place you will find many exotic birds and colorful orchids. At the end of the day your train will take you back to Ollantaytambo and you'll continue by private transport to Cusco.

Today you're free to enjoy this beautiful, ancient city. Walk through the streets, eat in local restaurants, buy souvenirs from all over Peru or just sit in the plaza to watch the native people in their colorful dress walk the square with their llamas, greeting the sun.
