Welcome to India
And so the adventure begins. Welcome to India; it's all awaiting you. You'll get off to the right start, as you'll be met right at the airport and helped to transfer to your comfy hotel.
Getting to know Delhi
New Dehli is one of the world's great cities, and today is all about getting to know this massive, pontentially-perplexing metropolis. This is a city of great contrasts; of rich and poor, old and new, and this is represented in the history of its architecture. Some highlights to take in include the India Gate, Jama Masjid, Chandi Chowk, and Humayun's Tomb. Your knowledgable guide will take you through all the ins and outs.
To the Pink City
Once you've done tucking into your breakfast, it's time to leave for Jaipur, the Pink City. You'll check into your hotel upon arrival, have some time to relax, and then take a tour of the beautiful City Palace and Jantar Mantar, Jaipur's World Heritage observatory.
Jaipur by elephant
There are a number of perfectly good ways to get around this romantic city, but none beats getting atop your very own elephant, as it ambles its mighty way up the hill to the majestic Amber Fort, the jewel in Jaipur's rosy crown. You'll also have an obligatory photo stop at the Hawa Mahal palace complex, and then, in the afternoon, get amongst all the boisterous sights and sounds of the local market.
Spectacular stops on the way to Agra
Your whirlwind tour of India's greatest sites continues on its merry way this morning, as you leave for Agra and its outstanding Mughal architecture. While you're on the way there, visit what is perhaps the most spectacular failures of a city ever conceived, Fatehpur Sikri, the brianchild of the legendary Akbar. There's also a stop at the huge Step Well of Abhaneri on the way. Once you make Agra itself, it's off to relax at your hotel.
Tonga to the Taj Mahal
Early this morning, it's time to get acquainted with Tongas. These are colourful horse-drawn carriages manned by equally colourful characters. Once you're aboard your Tonga, you'll be going to one of the world's most iconic structures, the incomparable Taj Mahal. Snap your camera to your heart's content, and then head back to the hotel and a well-earned breakfast. It would be remiss if y ou didn't visit the impressive Red Fort while in the neighbourhood, so that will be next on your list; before you fly back to all the intoxicating craziness that is New Delhi. Once you're there, a visit to Qutab Minar and the Lotus Temple is a must, before the night is left to you and this amazing city.
At last we will find ourselves either checking into the hotel as we finish our trip or preparing to go to the airport for your journey home.
