Welcome to Granada!
Your guide will meet you upon arrival in Managua to take you to your hotel in Granada!
Spend the rest of the day relaxing at your hotel or explore this charming city.
Admire the Majestic Masaya Volcano
Head up to the Masaya Volcano for a peek into the throat of this active volcano. Visitors are only permitted to be close to the edge of the volcano for a few minutes as the gases can be quite toxic.
Just above the crater, another dormant volcano offers great hiking with great views of Lake Masaya below.
Then go back to Granada for lunch and a free afternoon to explore Nicaragua's famed colonial city.
Go on a Zip Lining Adventure
Today's first stop is Mombacho Volcano for some adrenaline: go zip lining through the forest, then visit a coffee plantation.
Then continue south to San Jorge to the ferry across Isla Ometepe, and spend an hour on the fresh water lake!
Ometepe is one of the world’s largest islands on a freshwater lake and home to two massive volcanoes - Conception and Maderas.
Learn about Nicaragua's Fascinating History
The day is free for you to spend as you wish.
After a refreshing breakfast, you may visit a local museum that features an impressive collection of Nicaraguan coins and other monetary items.
The exhibit tells the history of Nicaragua through its money beginning with chocolate beans until the current printed and minted money.
Relax at Arenal's Hot Springs
This morning, you will take the ferry back to San Jorge. You will go through your first border crossing to enter Costa Rica, the second country of your journey.
As you cross into Costa Rica, the scenery begins to change. Start climbing into the mountains towards the active Arenal Volcano, where you can spend the night soaking in one of the natural hot springs at the base of the volcano.
Hike through Wonderful Rainforest
After breakfast, you will enjoy a beautiful hike through the tropical rainforest, walking for 2 hours on the Arenal hanging bridges and enjoying the wonderful panoramic views of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal.
Continue with a visit to the breathtaking Rio Fortuna waterfall. The waterfall drops an impressive 60 meters into a beautiful pool. Enjoy yourself with a refreshing bath.
The Arenal Volcano area has some of the most incredible zip lining and canyoning tours in the world, horseback riding, ATV, sea kayaking on Lake Arenal, caving, mountain biking, and stand up paddling. La Fortuna also has an impressive variety of restaurants. Ask about extra tours!
Gaze at the Caribbean in Cahuita
This morning, you will travel to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica to the beach town of Cahuita.
Cahuita has a relaxed atmosphere with a mix of Latino, Afro-Caribbean and Bribri indigenous cultures. Locals usually speak their own language called Patois (pronounced “patua”) which is a mix of Afro-Caribbean English, Spanish and French.
Rejuvenate yourself here while gazing at the gorgeous views.
Enjoy Lively Cahuita
Cahuita is a lively place for tourists to have a fun and relaxing experience. This area offers a lot of attractions and activities.
These include scuba diving, snorkeling, and a visit to Cahuita National Park or the Kekoldi Indian Reserve & waterfalls.
Visit the Stunning Starfish Beach
After leaving your hotel, drive to Sixaola, the last town in Costa Rica at the border of Panama.
You will pass border control and migration, and after crossing the bridge on foot, you will board transportation that takes you to the docks of Almirante. A boat will then take you to the island of Colón.
Once settled into your hotel, you will have the option to visit Boca del Drago and Starfish Beach, where you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon in the beautiful place.
Go Snorkeling at Zapatilla Island
Today, travel to the docks, where your guide will be waiting for you to start your next adventure: a full day tour visit to Zapatilla Island.
There you will be able to enjoy the gorgeous beaches of this uninhabited island or take a stroll through its lush tropical forest.
Snorkel material will be available to use as well as lunch and refreshments.
Feel the Beat of Panama City
You will have the morning free to enjoy a boat trip to one of the many other islands close by or to do some shopping in the town of Bocas del Toro. Then, you will be transferred to the local airport, where you will catch a domestic flight to Albrook, near Panama City.
Go to your hotel in the center of the city so you can head out for dinner and later experience the buoyant nightlife of this modern Latin city. For authentic Panamanian adventure hop onto a Chiva bus for a night of driving through the city, dancing on a moving bus, with hundreds of other buses with a wild Latin rhythm.
Chiva buses -- also called Diablo Rojo (Red Devil) buses, defy decorum and are a true Panama classic. Interact with locals, as you dance the night awayl!
Take a Stroll through Casco Viejo
You have an entire day to explore Panama City! A visit to the Canal is a must -- the best place is at the Miraflores Visitors Center at the Miraflores Locks, 20 minutes from downtown Panama City. The Center features a museum with interactive exhibits and a short film on the building of the Canal.
An outside terrace gives you close-up views of ships transiting through the locks. Then take a stroll through Casco Viejo, the Spanish colonial sector built in 1671 -- more than 340 years ago.
Casco Viejo showcases Panama's Spanish colonial and canal-era history. A vibrant, colorful neighborhood, it's recently undergone a renaissance: beautiful hotels and restaurants in handsomely restored buildings are side by side with crumbling old buildings.
