Arrival To Soak Up The Sun In Kalpitiya
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport. You will be driven to Kalpitiya Peninsula, which is one of the least developed, but most beautiful coastal stretches of the island. You'll have a chance to explore Kalpitiya at your leisure for the rest of the day. This peninsula is surrounded by the Indian Ocean on one side and separated from the mainland by the Puttalam Lagoon, making it home to natural habitats of diverse flora and fauna.
After a day of getting acquainted with this beautiful island, you'll go back to your hotel to rest for the adventurous days ahead!
Explore The Sri Lankan Coast With Dolphins And Whales
You'll wake up to the crashing waves of the sunny beach in Kalpitiya. After, we'll embark on an excursion to spot pods of dolphins and whales that frequently arrive at the Sri Lankan coast.
The lively dolphins will put on quite a performance for you, while mighty whales will serenely glide past! After an exciting day of watching these wonderful creatures, we'll return to your hotel to relax and get some must needed rest!

Discover History And Culture In Anuradhapura
After enjoying your breakfast at the hotel, we'll depart to Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura was the first capital of the country and the sole seat of sovereignty for more than seven centuries. We'll visit the royal palaces and ruins of ancient meeting halls, as you explore a city speckled with tall rising white dagobas and stupas. Along the way, we'll also visit Ruwanweliseya and Mirisevetiya, two stupas that represent the Buddhist culture deeply rooted in the country.
Finally, we'll visit the Sacred Bo Tree believed to be the most ancient tree in South East Asia, that's over 2500 years old! It is said that it was brought as a sapling from the very tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.
Next, we'll spend the rest of the day relaxing and overnight at a comfortable hotel in the Cultural Triangle.
Climb The Sigiriya Rock Fortress Also Know As 'The 8th Wonder Of The World!'
We'll start the morning with a climb to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World heritage site and 'the unofficial' 8th wonder of the World! This fortress was built by King Kasyapa as a palace and military fortification in the 5th Century. The rocky walls are covered in centuries-old paintings of deities, which are also believed to be portraits of King Kasyapa’s consorts. The water garden still operates without faltering, leaving modern-day engineers baffled about its special mechanisms.
In the afternoon, you will take a tour of the village in a carriage pulled by a bull! This was one of the most popular methods of traveling in the past and still is prevalent among the villagers. We'll take a break at a village house and join a local family for a cup of tea and delicious snacks.
Afterward, we'll return to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Explore Sri Lanka's Largest Cave Temple And Experience A Local Homestay
After breakfast, we'll leave to Kandy. En route, make a stop at the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, the largest cave temple in Sri Lanka built by King Walagambahu. The caves are filled with exquisite paintings and statues of Lord Buddha. Also along the way, we'll visit a Spice Garden at Matale. Witness how endemic and indigenous Sri Lankan spices are grown and processed to be used for culinary and medicinal purposes.
In Kandy, you'll arrive at a homestay with a family of locals for a truly authentic experience! You will stay in a ‘Walawwa’ or ancient mansion, which has been home to some of the aristocrats of the Kandyan Kingdom for the past 200 years. Follow the lady of the house into the kitchen where she performs her magic and you will assist in preparing some of the favorite local dishes.
Afterward, join the family at the table to enjoy the taste of a traditional meal followed by an overnight stay.
A Scenic Train Route To 'Little England'
The midpoint of your trip begins with a visit to the Temple the Tooth Relic. Join the devotees at the morning Pooja in honor of the sacred relic of Lord Buddha.
Later in the afternoon, we'll leave for Nuwara Eliya by train. The scenic route over the valleys and through the tea plantations will be breathtaking! Upon your arrival, take a city tour in Nuwara Eliya, dubbed ‘Little England’ because of the British architecture that's still prevalent in almost all the buildings in the city.
We'll stay overnight at a hotel in this beautiful, hill country.
Discover The Legend of 'Haggala' and Authentic Tea Production
We'll start the morning early to visit the Haggala Botanical Garden. According to legend, the rocky boulder named ‘Haggala’ represents the remains of Mt. Himalaya Lord Hanuman, which was brought to Sri Lanka during the battle between Rama and the Lankan King Ravana. The garden is filled with the flora of many endemic and indigenous species.
In the evening, we'll visit a tea factory where you can observe the conversion of freshly picked tea leaves to world famous Ceylon tea. Enjoy a complimentary cup of this authentic tea at the end of the guided tour and demonstration. Next, we'll hop into a tuk-tuk and ride to the Lipton Seat, the favorite spot of Sir Lipton, after whom Lipton tea is named.
This will be followed by a journey to Ella where you'll spend the night.
Explore Yala National Park
Spend the morning at your leisure sightseeing around Ella's scenic town.
Later in the afternoon, we'll leave for Yala National Park, home to the largest population of leopards! Next, we'll take a jeep safari in the evening to spot this elusive big cat of the jungle. But, leopards are not the only attraction at this National Park. Your whole family will be amazed as sloth bears cross the road in front of your jeep and mama boars, followed by her young. Elephants, also frequent the area.
After a day of sightseeing and witnessing amazing wildlife, you'll stay overnight in Yala.
Optional – Experience an overnight tent stay and sleep under the stars bordering the National Park. (choice of standard/comfort/luxury). Enjoy a hearty dinner by a campfire and relax to the sounds of the wild!
Explore Bundala National Park And Tour Galle
New experiences for your family await at Bundala National Park!
Embark on a journey into the midst of the trees and observe the winged creatures of Mother Nature - birds and colorful butterflies! Watch as the vibrant butterflies flutter across the trees and among the leaves, performing a synchronized dance among the greenery. Listen as birds call each other from the tops of the trees, sending out warning calls and welcome songs, where they lay perched looking down at us.
From Bundala, we'll next head to the Southwest Beach where the sun, sea, and sand will make a perfect holiday for you and your children. On your way, visit Galle for a tour of the colonial city by the beach, where you'll spend the night at a comfortable beach hotel.
Optional – Your children can experience and enjoy bike riding in Galle.
A Boat Ride On The Madhu River & Turtle Watching Under The Moon
After breakfast at your hotel, you will go on a boat ride on the Madhu River, that's surrounded by the mangroves along the shoreline and will bring us even closer to nature. You can spend the day at your leisure engaging in some fun water sports or sunbathing with a good book!
As the sun dips in the horizon, next we'll leave for an adventure under the moon - turtle watching! These marine animals make seasonal visits to the Lankan shores, where they lay their eggs and ensure their species survive. Watch them as they slowly drag themselves onto the shore and dig holes along the strip of beach with their flippers. Witness the miraculous moment when they lay the eggs, a sign of new life!
Optional – Join the locals in releasing newborn turtles back into the ocean. Guide them as they make their way towards the open sea and disappear among the rolling waves.
Learn About Sri Lankan Mask Culture, Art And Tradition
After a late night observing sea turtles, we'll wake up to a hearty breakfast and leave for the mask factory on a bullock cart. This traditional cart used to be one of the most popular traveling methods in the past but still, is a fun cultural experience for modern tourists.
Upon arrival at the mask factory, you will be shown a vast collection of traditional Sri Lankan masks, as well as, be surrounded by mask lore, centuries-old legends, and history. Next, you will join the expert artisan by carving and finishing your very own Southwest Coast wooden mask. Don't worry, the in-house artisan will guide you through each step of the procedure!
Last, we will return to your hotel to spend the rest of the day relaxing or so you can get an early night's rest.
