Cairo City Tour
Today, you'll get a full taste of Cairo and then some. After a first savory breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and proceed to Giza Plateau. It's time to see something truly miraculous, a real wonder of the world, in ancient times and still today, the Great Pyramids of Cheop, Chefren and Mykerinus. Admire the architectural marvel and feel the history come to live surrounded by these up to over 4.000 years old testimonies to human culture. And don't forget about the mysterious Great Sphinx. Have a tasty lunch over all these breathtaking experiences, before you'll proceed to visit the Egyptian Museum and its many Pharaonic residents, including legendary child king Tutankhamen.
From the ancient Egypt and its deities it is then time to move on to trace some of Christianities' oldest footprints at Coptic Cairo with Ben Ezra Synagogue and famous Hanging Church. Conclude this religious journey with Islamic Cairo with its many historical mosques and sites and Cairo's old (and definitely bustling) bazaar Khan El Khalili. From here, you'll move on to Giza train station to get onboard a charming sleeper train for some well-deserved rest after today's ride through time and religion. Enjoy dinner aboard before falling asleep to the gentle rattling of your ride to Luxor.
Leave Cairo and Arrive in Luxor
Enjoy breakfast aboard as you arrive in Luxor and move on afterwards to your next moving home for the next few nights, a beautiful Nile River cruise ready to bring you to Egypt's highlights as you enjoy wonderfully scenic views of the Nile. After embarkation and a first delicious lunch aboard it's time to explore Luxor. In the afternoon you'll visit the Temple of Karnak, located in the heart of Egypt, dating back to Egypt's New Kingdom. Karnak is possibly the largest temple complex ever constructed anywhere in the world, and was developed over a period of 1,500 years. The tour continues to The Temple of Luxor, built with the same sandstone used for the construction of monuments in upper Egypt. You'll return to the cruise for a delicious dinner, and a relaxing evening after such a long day.
Tour in Luxor and Sailing to Esna
You'll have breakfast on board before visiting the famous Colossi of Memnon, dedicated to Amenhotep III who built a mortuary temple guarded by two gigantic statues on the outer gates. Time and nature have taken their toll on the temple but the statues are still impressive. After that, you will be transferred to the west bank where you will visit the Valley of Kings, Valley of Queens and the Temple of Hatchepsut, one of Egypt's most successful pharaohs and considered the first great woman in the history. You'll return to the cruise for lunch as the ship starts sailing to Esna while tea will be served on the sundeck, followed by dinner.
Sailing from Edfu to Kom Ombo
Sail to Edfu before breakfast, you will take a horse carriage to the Temple of Edfu, built during the Ptolemaic period and dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Back on board the ship, you'll start sailing to Kom Ombo, and lunch will be served. Don't forget that tea will be served in the afternoon on the Sun Deck while you enjoy the wonderful view of the Egyptian countryside. You'll arrive in Kom Ombo where you'll visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, shared by the two Gods, Sobek and Haeroris. Returning to the cruise, overnight in Kom Ombo.
Tour In Aswan
Sail to Aswan before breakfast, and then you'll go by air conditioned vehicle to the High Dam stretching across the Nile River in Aswan. You'll also visit the unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae, which was dismantled and relocated to nearby island of Agilika by UNESCO during the construction of the Aswan Dam because the site was partly flooded for half a century by the earlier Aswan low dam. Back on board the ship for lunch. In the afternoon you will have a Felucca ride around the Elephantine Island, then have dinner on board the ship.
