Welcome to Spain!
Arrive in the capital of Spain, Madrid. In the arrival hall, find the AVIS desk and pick up your rental car. Head out of the city towards the picturesque city of Avila, which is a comfortable two-hours drive away. Here, you can see some of the best preserved medieval city walls in Europe. Walk among the ancient architecture and learn about the rich history of Avila. Then continue to your destination for today, Salamanca. The city is home to the oldest university in Spain and boasts a beautiful old town and main square. Take a tour of the city center, before retiring to your first castle, the Castillo del Buen Amor, whose history reaches back to the 13th century. Rest well!
Travel to Leon and Stay in a Luxury City Castle
Start the day with a delicious breakfast, then start driving north towards Zamora and Benavente. Stop for a coffee in the beautiful Parador de Zamora, an impressive castle dating back to the 12th century. Today's highlight, however, is your accommodation in Leon. The Parador de Leon was built as a hospital centuries ago, but since has been converted to a luxury hotel. Check into your comfortable suite and settle in. Later, head out to explore more of the surrounding area. You could take an excursion to Astorga, a nearby old Roman city with more than 2000 years of history. Or how about visiting Ponferrada with its incredible Templar castle. In the evening, retire to your suite in Leon and enjoy a relaxing night.
Traverse the Beautiful Spanish Plains
After a wonderful breakfast at your hotel, head out to explore more of Spain. Drive south towards Valladolid, through a beautiful area dotted with medieval castles and vast plains. Visit the Tordesillas Medina del Campo with its impressive castle Castillo de la Mota. Then head to Burgos, your destination for the day. Your hotel today is Señorio de Olmillos, an impressive medieval castle built in the 15th century. Part of the hotel is an excellent restaurant, where you can have dinner. Enjoy!
Explore Spain's Famous Wine Region around Rioja
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then leave Burgos behind and enter Spain's famous wine region. Visit Rioja, famous all across for its wine, and explore the many wineries. How about lunch and a small glass of excellent red wine before continuing? After some time to explore the town and to relax, continue to Laguardia, where you can see the town's unique fortified old town. Here, take the chance to visit one of the many design wineries and could pick up a bottle for tonight. End your travels for today in Olite, where you check into the Royal Castle. The building has been converted into a wonderful hotel with luxurious suites. Relax in the unobtrusive atmosphere of the hotel and enjoy that bottle of wine you purchased earlier.
Explore Zaragoza and Reside in a Convent
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the hotel and have a heavenly breakfast. Today you drive to Zaragoza, where you visit the Basilica and the famous cathedral, before heading to your accommodation in the Castle and Convent of Alcañiz. The convent was founded in the 12th century and boasts a massive tower and beautiful gardens, the perfect place for a sunset walk.
Visit Marvelous Villages in the Mountains
Today you drive across some of the most beautiful regions of Spain. Visit small villages like Mora de Rubielos and Albarracin, where you can marvel at the cute houses tucked onto the barren hillside. How about a delicious lunch in one of the excellent traditional restaurants along the route? Continue on to your destination for the day, the amazing Alarcon Castle. With over thirteen centuries of history, it sits nestled in a scenic setting and offers wonderful rooms in a heavenly relaxing atmosphere.
Visit the Beautiful Castle of Belmonte
Wake up to a wonderful breakfast at your hotel. Today you visit one of the best-preserved castles in Spain: Belmonte. Built in the 15th century, it was abandoned in the 17th and 18th century, before being restored and finally opened to the public in 2010. Move on to Cuenca, a beautiful city with a wonderful old town. The head to your final destination for today. Spend the night in a cozy hotel in Alarcón.
