The rest of the day is yours to explore! Get out into the streets and admire the striking colonial buildings. Make you you will take a good rest, because tomorrow will be a busy day!
Explore the Sights of Impressive Rabat
Today, enjoy a wonderful Moroccan breakfast before heading out to see what this exciting country has to offer. Take a ride to the imperial city of Rabat, which is also the administrative and political capital of Morocco. Upon arrival, you have the whole day to explore this elegant city and the many historic and architectural monuments that can be found there. Much quieter than Casablanca, Rabat is situated on the Atlantic coast.
Explore the atmospheric necropolis of Chellah and the tranquil Oudaya Kasbah with its lovely Andalusian Gardens. Visit the ancient unfinished Hassan Tower and the modern mausoleum of Mohammed V right next door. Don't miss out on the Rabat Archeology Museum situated in the picturesque Ville Nouvelle, the Andalusian style Medina and the Royal Palace.
Relive Architectural History in Meknès
From Rabat, you move on to another cultural hot spot: the city of Meknès. Once the capital of the Alaouite dynasty in the 17th century, Meknès was later redesigned by Sultan Moulay Ismail in Hispano-Moorish style. Over 80 monuments are waiting to be explored! Visit the Dar Jemai Museum and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, located at the historic El Hedim square. Make sure to stop at the impressive gate of Bab Mansour, whose columns were taken from the city of Volubilis, a roman settlement about 30 kilometers north of Meknès.
Visit the Roman Ruins of Volubilis
Yesterday you saw the gate of Bab Mansour in Meknès, today it is time to find out where the monumental columns of the gate were taken from. You visit the ruins of Volubilis, an ancient Roman provincial capital and one of the largest ruin complexes in Africa. Recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage site, these magnificent ruins don't fail to impress. They are located in a beautiful and fertile agricultural area.
Volubilis was looted centuries ago to build the nearby towns of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and Meknès, but you can still appreciate the remaining preserved structures of the Roman Era. After the visit, you move on to your next destination, Fès, where you spend the night.
Explore imposant Fès El Bali
Today, it's time to explore Fès El Bali. Founded in the 9th century and home to the oldest university in the world, Fès is Morocco's cultural and spiritual center. Its Medina is considered one of the most extensive and best conserved historic towns of the Arab world. A guided tour will show you around all the important places in town, starting from Bab Boujloud, the main entrance of Fès El Bali.
Your guide will take you through Karaouine Mosque, Zaouia Moulay Driss, the Koranic schools and the famous Tanneries. You will explore the narrow alleys lined with bazaars, food stands, craft shops, mosques, palaces, medresas, hammams, and much more. After a day full of exhilarating discoveries, you spend the night in a hotel or riad in Fès.
Magical Marrakech, "the Red City"
After a strengthening breakfast at your hotel, it's time to leave Fès and drive through the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Upon arrival, you have the rest of the day to yourself.
Marrakech is magical, exotic, and full of history. Known as the "Red City" mainly because of the predominant red color of its buildings, it used to be Morocco's capital, thus reflecting the country's rich history. Wander around and explore the streets of Marrakech as you desire. What about visiting a bazaar, or have an exotic dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants in the old town?
Tour through Historical Marrakech
Today you will travel back in time through Marrakech's rich history! Accompanied by a local guide, a half day walking tour lets you discover the famous sights of Marrakech, such as the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Medresa, and the Koutoubia Mosque with its hispano-moorish style.
Move on to explore the Old Medina, full of intertwining narrow passageways and local shops buzzing with charm and character. Don't miss out on the Souks, the markets: A real paradise for shoppers, you will find many different crafts, such as slippers, musical instruments, dried fruit, leathers goods, lamps and lanterns, and more.
