Get some rest, and get ready for your amazing Costa Rica Adventure!
Explore Amazing La Fortuna
After breakfast, you will drive to La Fortuna, with the Arenal Volcano right in front of you. There are plenty of great and interesting food options in La Fortuna.
Spend the afternoon on your own exploring the town of La Fortuna and relaxing in your hotel.
You can also sign up for an optional adventure -- a canopy zip line tour, a butterfly garden or ATV tour, get a massage or go canyoning -- ropes, harnesses, waterfalls.
In the evening, set off for one of Arenal Volcano's famous hot springs. This includes dinner by the waterside.
Marvel At La Fortuna Waterfall
A major attraction in Fortuna is the La Fortuna Waterfall. Over 15 feet of rain feed this majestic 210 feet high fall annually.
The hike down the slope to the swimming hole is 1600 feet. Fear not, the swim in the natural pool is worth the exertion. But remember, you have to climb back up after the swim.
The rest of the day you are free to spend as you desire. You can embark on one of the optional tours or simply continue enjoying your hotel and the tourist highlights of La Fortuna.
Go Rafting On The Pacuare River
Today, you will leave early to reach the Pacuare River for one full day of whitewater rafting. Travel down 17 miles of whitewater rapids past virgin forests and steep canyons.
The Pacuare is what made Costa Rica the Mecca for adventure long before tourism became a major industry for the country. The Pacuare carries you through pristine rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and river carved canyons. You will maneuver through the exhilarating rapids, and in gentler sections, you can see into the rainforest at the river’s edge.
Along the way, you can hike to waterfalls, jump in to swim the softer rapids, and have lunch on the shore. After leaving the river near Siquirres, you will drive to the beach in Puerto Viejo, on the Caribbean coast.
Relax On The Caribbean Coast
After breakfast, you will have some free time to enjoy the crystal clear blue waters of the Caribbean coast. The town of Cahuita is well known for its coastal national park, with hundreds of species and tropical flora, all Costa Rica's monkeys, and its birds. Both year-round beauties like toucans and migrating species are found, as well as Costa Rica's best coral reef.
You can go snorkeling or kayak through uninhabited estuaries for the best of riparian nature spotting on your own.
15 miles south of Cahuita is Puerto Viejo, the reggae capital with restaurants serving food from all over the world. Indeed, Costa Rica's best restaurants are here.
Optional activities you can sign up for include scuba diving, snorkeling, an exploration of chocolate production, and a visit to the Jaguar rescue center. Visit other great animal reserves, or the Kekoldi Indian Reserve & waterfalls.
Return To Lovely San Jose
You will have some free time in the morning to continue enjoying the beach.
After lunch you will be transferred back to your hotel in the city of San Jose.
Enjoy the amazing views of the Braulio Carrillo National Park on the way back.
