As your plane lands in Bandaranaike International Airport try not to jump out of your seat in excitement as you descend into the beautiful land of Sri Lanka.
Upon arrival, your chauffeur will immediately drive you to the city of Colombo for a tour that includes a visit to the amazing Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple to get your first taste of Sri Lankan culture!
Have you ever been on a floating market? Today, you will be able to witness the Colombo community interaction with the markets, as people wheel and deal their exotic wares.
After the market, we'll sure you'll be tired, so the rest of the day will be yours to relax or rest in your nice hotel to prepare for the rest of the tour!
Enter The Capital of Medieval King Buwenekabahu
After a delicious breakfast, we will head over to Yapahuwa, the ancient Medieval capital under the reign of King Buwenekabahu. This amazing Sigiriya rock fortress was a palace, a military stronghold, and built upon a 90-meter rock!
You will be simultaneously amazed at the history and the architecture of these ancient people.
Explore Anuradhapura: The 1st Sri Lankan Capital
This city, while in ruins will still leave you with a sense of the gloriousness of the past. The religious artifacts, temples, and dagobas that were built under this King will leave you impressed. If you think the buildings are old, you will also see Sacred Bo Tree. This tree is considered the oldest tree in South East Asia and is over 2500 years old!
Later, you will get some exercise when we walk to Mihintale Rock. Tradition says that this is the location that Buddhism was introduced to the King.
If you like caves then today is your day, because we will explore the caves where Mahinda Thero and his followers meditated and preached. Today will be an amazing day full of cultural discovery!
Climb The Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Today, you will climb the giant bolder fortress, Sigiriya Rock - make sure to bring your camera because from this point of view you will see the majestic green canopy of the surrounding forest.
At this fortress, you will learn all about the history of King Kasyapa, which includes murder, betrayal, and revenge.
You will be astounded by the beauty of the old gallery of paintings and the water gardens engineered with technology that still amazes many today.
Discover The Dambulla Rock Cave Temple
In Dambulla, you will encounter another King's temple, King Walagambahu.
King Walagambahu built an amazing temple thanking the people for hiding him from Indian invaders. Today, you get the chance to see his amazing temple that is filled with exquisite statues of Lord Buddha. As you explore the temple you will be amazed at the walls that are covered in various detailed paintings.
Afterward, we will visit the Matale Spice Garden, where you will learn first hand how spices are grown. You might even become a medicine man or woman since you will also learn how these spices are used in ancient medicinal techniques.
Exploration In The Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens
If exotic, beautiful plants and flowers are your thing - then you're in for a treat for today!
The Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden boasts all sorts of indigenous plant species and the most amazing Orchids. After exploration of this refreshing garden, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
You will be amazed as the worshipers light oil lamps and cast amazing light all over the temple grounds.
Play With Elephants At Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
On our way to yet another stunning temple, we will make a stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Here, over 86 elephants are cared for by their caretakers. You will see these adorable creatures being fed and playing in the river. Elephants are loveable creatures and you will fall head over heels with these guys!
The rest of the day will be filled with exploration of amazing temples and even an old Christian church that is over 140 years old!
A Hike Along The Tea Trail
Get ready for an emerald green and beautiful walking tour!
You will be surrounded by the green carpets of tea bushes planted on the slopes of the hills. The saree clad ladies will teach you how to pluck the best tea leaves from the bushes so you can make the freshest tea you have ever had in your life! Next, you will witness how the tea leaves get converted into Ceylon tea.
The rest of the day will be yours - relax at the hotel while enjoying your delicious tea.
Fun In The Sun At The Beach In Galle
Today is your day to have some fun in the sun - in Galle!
Galle is filled with remains from when the Dutch colonized Sri Lanka. The fort on this coast is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Afterwards, you will appreciate the magical sunset as you relax in the warm sun and feel the water touch your toes.
