Welcome to Tanzania!
Welcome to Tanzania!
After landing at Kilimanjaro Airport near Arusha, a Tansafari Tours representative will greet you at the airport and then drop you off at your hotel.
Depending on your time of arrival in Tanzania, you can decide for yourself on the spot if you would like to receive a short safari briefing with your guide on the same day or the next morning.
The rest of the day will be free for you to spend at your leisure. Enjoy relaxing at the hotel before embarking on all the exciting activities awaiting you the next day!
Drive to Beautiful Tarangire National Park
The Tarangire National Park is just a two and a half hour's drive from Arusha.
On the way there you will get a sense of the impressive vastness of Tanzania.
In addition, you will pass through several small villages where locals sell their goods in small markets or by the roadside. If you wish, the trip can be interrupted at any time for a short stop at a stall or for a tour of a market.
In the afternoon, you will drive into the Tarangire National Park, which has the highest concentration of wildlife after the Serengeti.
During the dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Whether wildebeests, zebras, lions, elephants, impalas, buffaloes, giraffes or gazelles – the Tarangire National Park is not only home to migratory herds and various predators, but also hundreds of impressive bird species.
In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner.
Visit a Maasai Village
Your guide will drive you to an off-the-beaten-track Maasai village where you can learn more about the rituals, ways of life, and culture of this people.
The Maasai are a seminomadic, cattle-rearing people notorious for their military raids in the 19th century.
You will be greeted in the village by a ceremony.
Then, take a look in the clay huts and discover the jewellery handmade by the Maasai. In some villages, there is even a Maasai school that you can visit.
The drive to the Serengeti takes several hours, enabling you to enjoy the vastness of the landscapes.
Take a break at Naabi Hill Gate, the entry point to the Serengeti, where you can climb the little lookout point before continuing your journey to your accommodation.
On the way there you might also spot some animals.
The rest of the day will be free for you to spend at your leisure.
Spend a Whole Day Game Driving
Start your photo safari today in the most famous wildlife reserve in the world – the Serengeti.
In the Maasai language, "Sirengeti" means "endless plain". The steppe gained worldwide fame through Bernhard Grzimek's documentary "Serengeti Shall Not Die”.
In addition to the vast grassland, from which granite rocks known as "Kopjes" often protrude, there are also incredible natural spectacles awaiting you in the oldest national park in Tanzania.
More than 1.5 million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of Thompson gazelles, 200’000 zebras, elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes and many other species live there. Depending on the season, your guide will choose the area where you are most likely to observe the migratory herds, which can be up to 40 km in length.
Equipped with lunch packages, you will spend the whole day game driving.
In the afternoon, return to your lodge.
Make Your Way to the Ngorongoro Area
After breakfast, leave the Serengeti and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, which you passed during your journey to the Serengeti.
The hills and mountains of the Ngorongoro area are all the more impressive after the wide grassy plains.
A safari in the largest volcanic crater in the world promises unique experiences!
The Ngorongoro caldera, with a diameter measuring up to 21 km, is not only populated by more than 360 bird species, but also up to 25,000 large mammals. The crater also has the highest predator density in Africa.
It is also the place you are most likely to see all the Big Five – elephants, black rhinos, buffalos, lions and leopards.
Unlike other national parks, the Maasai can live side by side with the wildlife to continue their culture and rituals in the place in which they have been doing so for centuries.
In the late afternoon, return to the lodge.
Bye Bye, Tanzania!
Today, you will drive from Karatu back to Arusha.
The drive takes about 3 hours.
Once again, you can enjoy the impressive expanse of the landscape or the hustle and bustle on the roadside in the small villages.
After an eventful and relaxing holiday in Tanzania, it is now time to say goodbye, unfortunately.
You will be driven to the airport, where you will start your journey home.
