Welcome Boat Ride in Sri Lanka
A warm welcome awaits you at the arrival lounge of Sri Lanka's airport. Your personal driver and guide will give you a brief introduction and your trip will begin!
Arrive in Minuwangoda where you'll enjoy a relaxing afternoon boat ride in Hamilton Boat Canel. Built in 1804, it was designed to drain salt water out of the Muthurajawela wetlands. You'll float through Colombo and Negombo on your way.
Hike the Ritigala Forest Monastery
In the morning, you'll embark on a journey to Sigiriya rock. You'll arrive at your luxury hotel where you'll have time to relax and enjoy your late morning.
Your adventure begins in the afternoon with a climb to the Ritigala Forest Monastery. Ritigala is a monastery swathed in legends and myths. It's highly atmospheric, with each carefully laid out granite step and stone telling stories of bygone days when ascetics and monks sought the forest's refuge for meditative retreats. You'll hike through these mysterious lands with the help of your local guide to bring you up to date on all the local legends as well as the best lookout spots along the way.
Trek on the Stunning Pindurangala Mountain
After a quick morning breakfast, join a local village trail and begin your hike. The path at Audangawa leads you through picturesque rice paddies, lakes, and old village trails. This trek gives you a glimpse into the life of the local folks, where the traditions and culture are still a part of their daily lives. You also have the option of being taken on a farmer’s tractor midway.
Embark on an exciting journey over the Kudawewa Lake where you have the opportunity to sight the Sigiriya & Pidurangala rocks. Proceed onward to visit the local temple passing through paddy fields and receive blessings from the priest. After, you will be taken to visit a villager’s house and enjoy a warm herbal drink or a king coconut.
In the afternoon, hike Pidurangala Mountain to the top of the rock for a panoramic view of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Ascend the Legendary Sigiriya Rock
Built in the 5th century, Sigiriya Rock is a huge highlight for visitors! In the morning, you'll ascend this legendary fortress by foot for unrivaled views of the valley below. You'll visit the points of interest along the way.
In the afternoon, you'll embark on a safari at Minneriya National Park in the north-central province of Sri Lanka. The area is a long time wildlife sanctuary and recently declared national park. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts. You'll also visit the park's famous tank with your local guide.
The Dambulla Cave Temple and Lovely Kandy
Set off for Kandy, one of Sri Lanka's most beloved cities. En route, visit Dambulla Cave Temple, an incredible sight to behold.
Also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, this stunning World Heritage Site is situated in the central part of the country. This site is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. With your guide, you'll wander through the amazingly intricate systems or caves, stopping at the most interesting spots along the way. Your guide will teach you the history of the temple as you go.
Later, you'll arrive in lovely Kandy where you'll have an evening city tour of the city including a tuk-tuk ride through the city and a visit to Temple of the Tooth Relic.
Trek the Gorgeous Knuckles Mountain Range
Today, you'll wake up early for morning trekking in the Knuckles Mountain Range. The range is a part of the Central Highlands World Heritage site which was declared in 2010. You'll have the chance to hike one of 35 peaks above 1000 m above sea level as you traverse the stunning countryside on foot. Look down on the beautiful Mahaweli River Valley from the south and east and on Matale Valley from the west. This hike will be moderately difficult, so you'll have the entire afternoon at your leisure to relax and enjoy discovering the area for yourself.
Epic Train Ride to Ella
Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, visit a tea plantation and factory. Here you will enjoy the definitive tea experience, taking you from the moment the young tea leaves are plucked from the plantation to when they are being processed in the factory to make a steamy cup of tea. If you are interested, the tea factory is the best place to purchase good quality tea.
Afterward, it's time to journey to Ella by train. A train journey is truly a rare experience and is an adventure itself! Apart from the breathtaking sceneries of the tea country and picturesque waterfalls, it is a chance for you to mingle with the local people.
Hike Little Adam's Peak Near Ella
On your first morning in Ella, wake up slowly and enjoy a leisure pace in your stunning hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a small trek to Little Adam’s peak. Ella is a hiking hot spot in the mountain country of Sri Lanka. Some of the views from hikes in Ella are phenomenal with the region well-known for its tea plantations and spectacular mountain ranges.
If you want to enjoy some of the best views without needing to hike for hours, Little Adam’s Peak is the perfect trek, especially for an unforgettable sunset. You'll ascend with your guide just in time for the sun to go down over the most beautiful region in the country.
Wildlife Safari in Yala National Park
After breakfast in Ella, transfer to Yala where you'll have time to relax in midmorning. After a delicious lunch near your hotel, it's time to do some wildlife spotting in Yala National Park!
Yala gives the best opportunity to witness Sri Lanka’s broad variety of wildlife: colorfully painted stork in troops are seen perched at the shores of lagoons. Crocodiles sleep lazily in the shallow waters. Lovely fan tailed peacocks in their resplendent blues and greens parade about amidst the woods. Monkeys hang, leap, and chatter. In the bush jungle, you might even be lucky enough to see elephants. In the thorny scrub of the jungle, you might even witness the star attraction of the park: the leopard.
Trekking in Rumassala
In the morning, gather your things and hit the road to visit the south of Sri Lanka. Once there, you'll embark on a trekking journey in Rumassala. Keep an eye out for wildlife – particularly raptors and purple-faced leaf monkeys while hiking hard and justifying the afternoon beers.
For extra weight, carry a towel and your swimming and snorkeling gear and head down to Jungle Beach for a swim and snorkel around the coral. You'll visit Galle Fort, the old Dutch “Star Fort” andWorld Heritages Site. Walk along the fort walls at sunset from some completely stunning colors all along the horizon line.
Uncover Paradise in Galle
Your last full day in Sri Lanka is yours to enjoy on the paradise beaches of Galle. Eat at beachside shacks and drink fresh coconuts from the palm trees above. You can take a tuk-tuk ride around the ocean town and discover any sights you might have missed the day before.
Enjoy some water sports such as surfing, stand up paddleboarding, and snorkeling in the beautiful waters. If you're feeling adventurous, walk down to the neighboring Unawatuna beach where you can try your luck on the huge and famous rope swing over the incredible pink beach. Spend your day soaking up the hot Sri Lanka sun and taking in the seaside paradise.
