Welcome to Lima
Upon arrival at Lima's Airport, you will be welcomed by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel in Miraflores, where you are free to relax and wander around at your own pace. Depending on the time of arrival, we have plenty of suggestions for you, so you can make the most of your first day in Lima.
Biking through downtown Lima
Today, we will enjoy a bike tour that will take us back in time through the Colonial and modern stages of Peruvian History. We meet you at the bike shop and have a short briefing before we begin cycling. This route is designed for those who do not want to miss anything while in Lima.
We begin in Miraflores and head north through the most traditional districts of this huge and wonderful city, passing by the traditional Arequipa avenue with examples of several architectural styles. Continue riding along many traditional monuments and treasures of the city center. We will visit Aliaga Mansion, the Art Museum of Lima, Santo Domingo church and the Main Square of Lima. Finally, we return to Miraflores along the promenade with a great view of the Pacific Ocean. The bike tour ends at the bike office in the afternoon.
We suggest you try Peruvian cuisine for dinner to better understand the country.
Picturesque Flight to Cusco
After early breakfast, you will take a short drive to the airport to take the 1-hour flight to the city of Cusco (not included). If possible, you should try to get a seat on the left side of the aircraft as some of the best views of the Andes can be seen from this perspective.
Upon arrival at Cusco airport, you will be met by our local staff who will welcome you and take you on our private transport towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Because of its lower elevation (2,870 meters above sea level or 9,415 feet) and its peaceful atmosphere, the Sacred Valley is the perfect place to enjoy your first days in Cusco as you adapt to the high altitude. On the way to your hotel, you will stop at Awanacancha, where you can see different camelids of the Peruvian Andes and then you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch in Parqay restaurant.
After lunch your journey continues and you arrive at the hotel in a rural area.
Thrilling Zipline Adventure in the Sacred Valley
Today, between 9:00 and 9:30 am, you'll be picked up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley and you will head to Pachar, the starting point of your adventure. Once there, you'll first meet your guides and have a safety briefing before starting the Via Ferrata (apt for all ages and fitness levels).
During the route, you will appreciate the breathtaking view of the Valley from a different perspective. Once you have reached the top of the circuit, you start zip-lining down. You will descend from one line to another for about 2 hours. At the end of the adventure at around 15:30, you will be dropped off at your hotel in the Sacred Valley where you'll have the rest of the afternoon free to relax.
The Majestic Ollantaytambo Fortress
This morning you will head from the hotel to the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, an impressive Inca complex that protected this area from incursions from the Amazon Basin. Ollantaytambo is one of the best examples of Incan architecture you can see nowadays. We'll then be able to walk along its cobblestone streets and have a look around the village. Afterward, you will get ready to experience “Pachamanca”, a traditional cooking technique where the food is prepared underground with preheated stones and covered with banana leaves to separate ingredients from the soil. You will see the Pachamanca Oven, which in Quechua means “Earth Pot”, and maybe participate in cooking. The main ingredients are potatoes, ulluco, oca, mashua, corn, barley, and other Andean products as well as beef or lamb and Andean aromatic Herbs.
After lunch, you will hike up Pinkuylluna for an incredible view.
Short but Sweet Inca Trail
This morning you will leave our hotel and head to the station to board the train that will take you to the spot where the trekking trail starts. From here, you’ll start walking towards the Chanchabamba archeological site, located at 2250m above sea level. In Incan times products were obtained here and taken up to Machu Picchu. After 3 and a half hours of walking, you will reach Wiñay Wayna, where you'll enjoy some of the best views of the Urubamba River and see different types of beautiful orchids. You will also have some time to enjoy a visit to the Wiñay Wayna archeological site.
You will have a packed lunch so you can continue the hike with a full stomach to Machu Picchu citadel. In the afternoon you'll have the chance to enjoy the view of the citadel from the Inti Punku (Sun’s gate). From there you will hop on a bus to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night.
All the Glory of Machu Picchu
Today is a big day! Early in the morning, you'll take a 20-minute bus ride up the steep zigzagging road to Machu Picchu Citadel, located on an impressive mountain setting. Once there, together with your private guide, you’ll prepare to explore just about every corner of the famous citadel. We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have in order to gain a better understanding of Machu Picchu and the Incan culture.
After visiting Machu Picchu, you will have some free time in Aguas Calientes before boarding your train back to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo, private transport will be waiting to take you to your hotel.
Historical Hike Around Cusco
This morning we'll strap on our walking shoes as we prepare for a soft hike around Cusco's Historical City Centre and surrounding countryside!
We begin the tour in the outskirts of Cusco with a visit to Sacsayhuaman, an Incan fortress overlooking the city. Then we'll start an easy one-hour descent, part of it through an old Incan road, one of the best-preserved in the area until we arrive in the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas.
This walking city tour will not only take us to the most touristic sites in Cusco such as the Main Square, Cathedral and Koricancha “Temple of the Sun”, but also along ancient streets, local markets, and old neighborhoods where we will discover the magic of Cusco. This hike is the perfect way to get a more authentic feel for this amazing city and its people. The afternoon will be free so you can wander and enjoy the city at your own pace.
Discovering the city of Cusco
Cusco is one of the most interesting cities in Peru and South America. Today you will have the entire day to wander around by yourselves. We'll be more than happy to give you our best recommendations for restaurants, shops, and additional activities in the city.
Exploring Beautiful Lima
Today you will have some free time to maybe take a last walk around Cusco's shops and markets and then, at the coordinated time, you will head to Cusco's airport to board your flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Miraflores.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore Lima on your own.
Into the Golden Desert of Paracas
This morning a private transport will take you to Paracas. You will be driving for 300km along the Panamerican Highway to reach the Paracas Bay, located around 3 hours south of Lima and surrounded by the endless sand dunes of the desert.
There will be free time for lunch (not included) - we recommend you try some Afro-Peruvian dishes - before you continue the journey to your beach-front hotel located in the middle of the “California Desert”.
Later on, you'll leave this beautiful landscape and venture into the desert dunes aboard powerful sand buggies. During the ride, you’ll be stopping at selected dunes where you can practice sandboarding and test your skills in this fun sport. After watching the sunset from the vastness of the desert you will go back to relax in your charming hotel.
Incredible Wildlife in Ballestas Islands
This morning you will leave Paracas by speedboat departing from the Libertador Pier. The destination is the Ballestas Islands, also known as the little Galapagos islands because of the great variety of marine wildlife that inhabits them. You will see sea lions, Humboldt Penguins, and various other marine bird species. On route, your boat stops to take a look at the "The Chandelier", an enigmatic figure that can only be seen from the sea.
Upon returning to land you will be driven to the nearby Paracas National Reserve, one of Peru’s most important Natural Reserves. First, you’ll visit the park’s visitor center and then walk along a trail to see the Parihuanas (Andean flamingos). You have the chance to get lunch (not included) in the tiny fishing village of "Lagunillas" before returning to your comfortable hotel in the Paracas Bay.
See you soon, Peru!
You will have the morning off to enjoy the facilities of your hotel in Paracas or take a stroll through the neighborhood. At the coordinated time you will depart from Paracas and head to Lima’s airport on time for your international flight back home.
We hope you enjoyed this trip and will come back soon!
