Welcome to Peru!
Upon arrival at Lima's Airport, you will be welcomed by a tour representative who will drive you to your hotel in Miraflores, where you are free to relax and wander around at your own pace. Depending on the time of arrival, we have plenty of suggestions for you so that you can make the most of your first day in Lima.
Explore Historical Lima
Spend the day exploring Lima on a tour that will take you back in time through the Colonial and pre-Hispanic stages of Peruvian history. You’ll also get the chance to savour the country’s excellent cuisine during an evening food tour and cocktail-making class. Sip on Peru's national drink — the Pisco Sour — then head to the award-winning Amaz restaurant to taste another local delicacy, “ceviche.”
End the evening at the famous Huaca Pucllana restaurant with spectacular views of pre-Incan ruins before setting out for a nighttime stroll around the bohemian Barranco neighborhood.
Find Peace in Cusco
After an early breakfast, you’ll catch a short flight to the city of Cusco (airfare not included). Upon arrival, a local guide will welcome you and take you by private transport to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Because of its lower elevation (2,870 m or 9,415 ft) and its peaceful atmosphere, the Sacred Valley is the perfect place to enjoy your first day in Cusco as you adapt to the high altitude.
On the way to your hotel, you will stop for lunch at “Hacienda Huayoccari,” a 19th century manor house, which houses a display of historic artifacts including an impressive collection of traditional drinking vessels called “Qeros.”
After relaxing in Huayoccari, you will continue to your hotel in the countryside between Urubamba and Ollantaytambo.
Go Kayaking in the Piuray Lagoon
This day will start at the Piuray Outdoor Center on the shores of the Piuray lagoon. The excursion begins with a yoga session to warm up your body for the morning kayaking adventure. Afterwards, enjoy a nutritious Andean lunch prepared with fresh local products.
Later, you'll begin your journey to the Misminay community, where you will spend the night. As soon as you arrive in Misminay, the community hosts Maria and Mario will greet you and introduce you to the surroundings of this wonderful place. In the evening, you will be treated to a delicious dinner comprised of typical Peruvian dishes.
After dinner, you can settle in to your beautiful, comfortable Glamping tents beneath the starry night sky of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Take a Morning Walk to the Moray Viewpoint
Waking up in Misminay is an unforgettable experience. Climb out of your tent and take in the panoramic views of the vast fields and majestic snow-capped peaks in the distance.
After breakfast, you will meet your hosts for a short walk to the Moray viewpoint. En route, enjoy the wonderful views of the serene Andean environs, and upon arrival, you will be amazed by the unique sight — a series of circular terraces built upon a natural depression, which seems to have once been an agricultural experimental station used by the Incas to adapt crops to different temperatures.
Later, you will return to Misminay to enjoy a delicious farewell lunch before making your way back to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. The rest of the day is free for you to relax.
See an Extraordinary Example of Inca Architecture
The Ollantaytambo archaeological site is on the agenda for today. This impressive Inca complex is one of the best examples of Inca architecture that we can see today. We'll have the opportunity to walk along its cobblestone streets and take a look around the village.
Afterwards, you will see “Pachamanca”, a traditional cooking technique where the food is prepared underground with preheated stones and covered with banana leaves. You will watch as your hosts construct a Pachamanca Oven, which in Quechua means “Earth Pot,” and maybe even participate in the preparation.
After lunch, you will walk to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town).
Explore Machu Picchu
Today is the big day! Early in the morning, you'll take a 20-minute bus ride up the steep zigzagging road to the Machu Picchu Citadel, located on an impressive mountain setting. Once there, together with your private guide, you'll be able to explore just about every corner of the famous citadel. We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have in order to have a better understanding of Machu Picchu and the Incan culture.
After visiting Machu Picchu, you will have some free time in Aguas Calientes before boarding your return train back to Ollantaytambo, where a private transport will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
Enjoy a Walking Tour and Pisco Tasting
Start off the morning with a walking tour to Cusco’s top sights, such as the Main Square, Cathedral, and Koricancha or “Temple of the Sun.” You’ll also have the chance to explore the city’s ancient streets, local markets, and traditional neighborhoods.
Tonight, a Pisco tasting awaits. A local bartender will pick you up at your hotel and lead you to “La Taberna" Pachapapa, a charming bar where you’ll learn all about Pisco, including its history and fermentation processes. Then, you will have the chance to taste three Pisco varieties.
Later, you will continue on to Kion, a Peruvian-Chinese restaurant, where you will enjoy an innovative cocktail based on Peru’s national spirit and kion (ginger).
Discover Cusco at Your Own Pace
Cusco is one of the most interesting cities in Peru and South America. Today you will have the entire day to explore the streets, plazas and markets of this UNESCO World Heritage City at our own pace. We'll be more than happy to give you our best recommendations of restaurants, shops, and additional activities in the city.
Scenic Train Ride Across the Highlands to Puno
After breakfast, you will head to Cusco's train station to board the luxurious Titicaca Train, for a journey between mountains and clouds. This breathtaking 10-hour train ride ends at the majestic Lake Titicaca.
Enjoy the comfortable amenities of this stylish train modeled after the great Pullman trains of the 1920s. The Andean Explorer is one the most of luxurious ways to travel between Cusco and Lake Titicaca. Once you arrive in Puno, you will be greeted at the train station and transferred to your hotel.
Cruise Across Lake Titicaca
In the morning, board a motorboat and cruise across Lake Titicaca towards the floating reed islands of the Uros Community. Today you will have the chance learn about this community’s unique lifestyle during a visit to two of their floating islands.
Afterwards, you'll continue to the Island of Taquile, where you will observe how the traditions of Taquileans have been kept alive for centuries. You'll have the chance to admire their traditional, colorful clothing, as well as their unique knitted and woven textile handicrafts. Then, you will head to Suasi Island where you will spend the night in a charming lodge.
This small and beautiful lakeside property offers exclusive a-la-carte activities and full-board service for its guests.
Soak Up the Spectacular Lakeside Scenery
Enjoy the magnificent landscape of the lake while taking part in any of the possible activities at your lodge. From cultural experiences to scenic activities, there is a wide range of possibilities to choose from. Alternatively, simply relax at your wonderful hotel. The choice is yours.
Venture to Peru’s Northern Coast
Today you will catch a flight to Lima, where you will connect to a flight to Piura.
On route to the airport, you can stop to visit the archaeological site of Sillustani on the shores of Lake Umayo, an area full of energy and mystery. You’ll notice that the environment here is a bit different than that of Lake Titicaca. You'll visit an amazing burial site made of huge cylindrical tombs called “Chulpas.” After the tour, you will continue to the airport to board your flight.
Upon arriving in Piura, you will be transferred to your charming beachside hotel.
Delight in the Beachside Resort Town of Mancora
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your beach hotel this morning, then spend the day relaxing on the soft sands. Go for a swim in the marvelous ocean waters. Surfers will be delighted with the magnificent waves waiting to be ridden.
Later on, exlore the town of Mancora. Avenida Piura is the main street and it's lined with an array of atmospheric restaurants and cafes. The bar scene comes alive at nightfall.
Be Invigorated by the Ocean Scenery
Another full day on the beach today is yours to enjoy. This is your last day on your Peruvian honeymoon adventure, so be sure to make the most of it. Soak up the splendid seaside scenery from your beach chair, and spend some more time in the invigorating ocean, swimming or surfing. The hot springs and mud baths at La Poza de Barro make an excellent excursion.
