Welcome to Nicaragua!

Transfer to your hotel after arriving at Managua International Airport.

Managua is the capital of Nicaragua, home to almost two million inhabitants and the largest city in Nicaragua. Natural reserves and beach destinations are within arm's reach.

Within the city, you can enjoy the views of the Tiscapa Lagoon (of volcanic origin) where you can do a canopy tour. Just outside Managua, the Montibelli Bird and Butterfly Reserve and the Chocoyero National Reserve are also recommended. Furthermore, Pochomil and Montelimar, located only an hour away, offer some excellent beaches.

In the morning, head off to León, known for its impressive colonial heritage, rich culture, and history.

Enjoy a Day at Las Penitas Beach

This morning, start your day with a guided city tour through the historic center of León. After that, head to Las Peñitas to rest and enjoy the beach. 

If you want to cool off, head to the nearby beaches of Poneloya and Las Peñitas. Culture enthusiasts may want to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of León Viejo, where the city was originally founded. Those who enjoy hiking can go to one of the many volcanoes in the surrounding area.

Visit the Masaya Handicrafts Market

Start your day off with a visit the Masaya handicrafts market. This old market gives you excellent opportunities to observe local Nicaraguan life. After that, you will continue to the beautiful colonial city of Granada.

Granada is characterized by brightly-colored colonial Spanish architecture, visible throughout the city center. The city has an attractive ambiance and there is a wide array of popular restaurants and bars, especially along the boulevard from the central park to the shores of Lake Nicaragua.

Granada - Las Isletas De Grandada  

Take a Tour of Granada

No visit to Granada is complete without a tour of the city's historic center. Founded by the Spanish in 1524, Granada is one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. On this guided tour, you will travel both on foot and via a traditional horse-drawn carriage to explore the city's most interesting sites, including the San Francisco church and adjacent San Francisco Convent, built in 1529.

You also visit the Merced church, where you have the opportunity to climb the bell tower and enjoy spectacular views of the city, Lake Nicaragua, and Mombacho volcano. The last stop is in the oldest part of the city, where you can visit the Xalteva church and the old city walls.

Head for the Choco Museo to learn everything about chocolate and cacao. The museum has its own workplace where chocolate is handmade with 100% Nicaraguan organic cacao beans.

Granada - Mombacho Volcano  

Learn to Cook a Nicaraguan Meal

Start the day with a cooking class to learn more about Nicaragua´s delicious food. With your new skills, you can make your own personalized Nicaraguan plate, have some wine and take the recipes home for further enjoyment.

In the afternoon, climb to the top of the Mombacho volcano, completely covered with cloud forests. Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve is a cloud forest with a wide variety of vegetation and wildlife.

A truck will carry you to the top of the volcano. After a short stop at the research station, explore the impressive natural surroundings during a guided hike.

San Juan Del Sur  

Travel to Stunning San Juan Del Sur

Today you will be transferred to San Juan del Sur, a fishing village situated in a breathtaking bay in the Pacific.

San Juan del Sur is home to many hotels, restaurants, bars, and clubs and offers great nightlife. The beaches are great for surfing almost year-round; other activities include snorkeling, diving, sailing, and whale-watching. You can do a canopy tour just outside the town and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes.

The protected La Flor beach and wildlife reserve should not be left out of any itinerary, especially for those who are keen to see marine turtles.

Try Surfing at San Juan Del Fur

You can enjoy San Juan del Sur and its surroundings on your own. Spend the day exploring the beautiful bay and beach and do some hiking in the surroundings.

Enjoy the beautiful beaches near San Juan del Sur. For those who would like an adrenaline rush, try surf lessons and learn to ride these wonderful waves! San Juan del Sur is a great place for a sailing trip. Beverages and snacks are provided. The boat stops for a refreshing swim.

You can enjoy the sun while making your way back to San Juan del Sur. Several animals can be spotted if you are lucky, like whales, dolphins, sea turtles, frigate birds, pelicans, and other seabirds.

Marvel at The Mysterious Underwater World

Come and enjoy the beautiful underwater world just outside of San Juan del Sur Bay. Visit different spots such as La Limosa, Costa Blanca, and Paradise Bay, all known for their one-of-a-kind underwater life. The tour includes all the snorkeling gear you need to have an incredible experience on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua.

The most famous beach south of San Juan del Sur is the La Flor beach. This beach is a protected wildlife reserve because of the massive migrations of Olive Ridley turtles that takes place every year between August and January. 

Take an exciting cruise along the beautiful Pacific coastline on your afternoon tour in San Juan del Sur. As soon as you push off from the shore, the music starts and the open bar will offer you your choice of soft drinks, beer, or local rum.

Today you will be transferred to Managua. Here, you can enjoy your last night of the trip.

The city has a lot to offer its visitors: theaters, restaurants, nightclubs, bars, and cinemas. At Roberto Huembes market, you can experience an authentic Nicaraguan street market and buy well-made souvenirs and handicrafts. Use your last night in Nicaragua however you wish.
