Welcome to Yangon!
Welcome to Yangon! Upon arrival, you’ll meet with your guide who will transfer you to your hotel, depending on your arrival you'll have time to relax before heading to the first destination on the tour.
The afternoon will begin with a visit to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, one of Myanmar's more beautiful reclining buddhas topped by a crown encrusted with diamonds and other precious stones. The feet of this magnificent statue is carved with traditional symbols and often many locals gather to pay homage and pray.
Your day will conclude at Shwedagon Pagoda, which is one of the wonders of the world, built 2500 years ago!
Sightseeing in Yangon, Overnight train ride to Mandalay
Start your morning casually - sleep in late or enjoy a delicious breakfast to get ready for our adventure in the afternoon!
The afternoon begins with a private tour and drive through downtown to explore the city center and its fabulous mix of architecture and sites. You'll notice that the streets are filled with historical buildings many of which have a faded Colonial charm.
You'll first see the post office – a lovely historic building, passing by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden, and Independence Monument along the way. If time permits, you'll continue to Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s Market, where you can browse through the wide selection of Myanmar handicrafts and other goods.
Later, you’ll transfer to the train station for your overnight trip to Mandalay.
Explore and experience Mandalay
In the morning you’ll arrive at Mandalay train station where your guide will be waiting and will transfer you to a local tea shop for breakfast. After breakfast, you’ll transfer to your hotel where you can relax a little.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit Mahamuni Pogada, Myanmar's most famous, 13 foot high Buddha image. Next, you'll continue your tour of Mandalay with a visit to Kuthodaw Pagoda, whose 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures have earned it the title as ‘World’s Biggest Book’.
Finally, you'll continue to Shwenandaw Monastery, the only remaining building from the 19th Century Royal Palace. In the late afternoon, you’ll head to the top of Mandalay
'City of Immorality' and ferry ride to the ancient city of Ava
On this day, you’ll visit Amarapura or the ‘Cty of Immortality’, where you are invited to enjoy a silk weaving workshop, which produces exquisite handmade products . This ifollowed by a visit to Mahagandayon Monastery, where over 1,000 monks reside! Next, you'll continue to U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest and 200-year-old teak bridge where you can take a stroll over the Irrawaddy River to Sagaing.
Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar where you'll visit pagodas such as Swan OoPon Nya Shin and U Min ThoneSae.
In the afternoon, you'll travel by ferry boat to Ava, an ancient city, with a remarkably rural backwater of empty fields sparsely dotted with widely spaced ruins, monastic buildings, and stupas. You'll explore Ava by plodding horse cart to visit various monasteries and Nanmyin.
A day cruise to Bagan
In the morning, you’ll transfer to the Mandalay jetty for your day cruise to Bagan. This river cruise journey will give you a chance to see the local life of villagers and fisherman who live along the bank of Ayerwaddy River. You will also witness the scenery of the beautiful Ayerwaddy River while enjoying a delicious lunch along with coffee, purified drinking water, and/or afternoon tea on the boat.
By the evening, you'll arrive in Bagan where you’ll transfer to your comfortable hotel.
Sightseeing in Bagan
After breakfast, your journey begins with a visit to the golden Shwezigon Pagoda, the first monument built in Myanmar style in 1087. Next, you'll visit Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple at Wetkyi-Inn Village, well-known for its exquisite jataka mural paintings and the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.
Later in the afternoon, visit a traditional lacqu erware workshop where you can observe the production of one of Myanmar’s best-known handicrafts.
Next, continue to Ananda Temple, one of Bagan’s most beautiful temples, followed by Thatbyinnyu, the highest temple in Bagan, massive Bagan, massive Dhammayangyi Temple, noted for its remarkable brickwork, and Sulamani Temple.
Your day will conclude with an unforgettable sunset over the plains from the upper terrace of one of the temples.
Experience villager life in Bagan
On this day we will take you to Nyaung Oo Market where villagers gather every day to buy and sell their products and other goods.
Next, a visit to Phwar Saw Village to discover the villagers’ life, followed by a trip back to the hotel. The day will be up to you to spend how you desire.
Bus ride to Kalaw
After breakfast, you’ll transfer to Bagan bus station for your overland journey to Kalaw.
Upon arrival in Kalaw, you’ll go to your hotel, where you can spend the rest of the day as you wish.
Rice terraces and limestone cliffs
After breakfast, you'll transfer to a trekking starting point called Lamaing, a village of YaungYo Tribes. Along the way, you'll meet with hill tribes such as TaungYo, Danu and Pa-O who live by farming potatoes, ginger, wheat, rice and vegetables.
You'll continue to the village of Pa-O tribes by walking through a green bamboo forest. Upon arrival in KoneHla, you can see Dabu tribes, and experience a village lunch cooked by our chef and you'll have a chance to take a small rest.
After a delicious lunch, you'll continue to Pa-O Monastery for an overnight stay - never ending rice terraces followed by beautiful limestone cliffs with karsts topography!
Meet Locals Of Indein Village
Latish in the morning, you'll continue your path to the local village where you can see Pa-O traditional bamboo basket weavers. You'll also visit village a primary school to meet with local children. Along the way, you can also meet the tribal people coming back from the Inle Lake after selling their crops.
Upon arrival to the Indein Village, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, visit Indein, populated by ethnic Padaung (“long neck women”). You’ll walk on a covered alley lined on both sides with thousand pagodas.
As you continue via a long covered staircase, you'll discover the magnificent complex of Alaung Sithu in a beautiful scenery of ancient stupas buried in vegetation with a panoramic view of the lake.
Inle Lake Boat Excursion
After breakfast, you'll visit the lake’s morning market - the market rotates its location around the lake’s villages in a 5-day rhythm and is visited by lake inhabitants and surrounding hill tribes who come to sell and trade their goods.
Next, you'll visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, famous for the 800 years old Five Buddha statues which are covered in gold leaf. We’ll also visit Nge Phe Chaung ancient monastery.
You will also get a chance to explore the local crafts of Inle Lake with a stop at the weaving village of Inpawkhone, as well as, a cheroot factory, where typical Burmese cigars are made by hand.
Return Back To Yangon
The day shall beginn with a transfer to Heho airport for your flight back to Yangon.
On the way, you'll have the opportunity to stop at the wooden Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery, which is an elegant ancient monastery with its oval-shaped windows. Upon your arrival in Yangon, you’ll transfer to your hotel where the rest of the day you can spend as you wish.
