Welcome to Sunny Cancún
Upon your arrival in sunny Cancun, you will meet your private driver and make the short journey to Tulum. Check in at your hotel and spend the evening relaxing in your surroundings by the Caribbean Sea. You'll have time to walk the beach, visit the town, or just soak up the amazing atmosphere here in Tulum.
Ruins in Tulum and Snorkeling with Turtles
After breakfast, visit the archeological site of Tulum. This World Heritage Site sits on a cliff edge facing the Caribbean sea and witnessed the arrival of the first colonists. Visit this ancient harbor built in 1200, which disappeared at the end of the 16th century. You'll love learning about the history here!
Then, head to Akumal, a small town between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. In the Mayan language, Akumal means "land of the turtles." Here you will do some snorkeling to watch the numerous turtles that come to eat the abundant sponges in the bay and lay their eggs on this pretty beach. The turtles are here all year long.
Authentic Cooking Class and a Magical Cenote
Today, step off the tourist track and live an authentic Mexican culinary experience at Rivera Kitchen Tulum! Ancient Mexican culinary techniques and flavors, fresh ingredients, tortillas from scratch, everything is ready for you to enjoy a cultural immersion in Mexican food, culture, and traditions -- all this in a beautiful home, nestled among the always green, beautiful Yucatan jungle. Many of the dishes you will learn to cook come from family recipes. After the class, enjoy the fruits of your labor along with a "jarrito de agua fresca" or glass of beer, wine, or both!
In the afternoon, cool down in the beautiful cenote Zacil-ha. Cenotes are natural pools of fresh crystaline water created millions of years ago by meteorites. This cenote is more open than others and the water is unbelievably clear. Take a dip in this magical pool!
Explore the Jungles of Tulum on Bike
Today, embark on a journey through space and time - discover the variety of caverns and caves that fill the Mayan jungle as we ride through the high forest outside of Tulum to explore 3 different cenotes.
Considered by the ancients as portals into the underworld, the cenotes allow us entry into another realm of the earth and an unparalleled view of amazing rock formations, ancient fossils, and sacred ceremonial sites. Travel through the jungle on bikes and discover a world you didn't know existed. Swim in cenotes and snorkel in underground rivers. You'll feel like you've been transported to another world.
Explore the Stunning Laguna Bacalar
Spend a free morning in Tulum to walk the beaches, ride bikes, or go snorkeling once more. Soak up the sun and eat at the amazing cafes nearby!
In the afternoon, arrive in Bacalar. The Laguna Bacalar is a 50-km (31-miles) long and 2-km (1.25-miles) wide lagoon, surrounded by a beautiful mangrove forest. It earned the nickname ‘the lake of seven colors’ for its incredible watercolor variations. You'll take a tour of the area before turning in for the evening.
Exciting Kayak Tour of Bacalar
Spend the day kayaking across the beautiful lagoon of Bacalar. Instructions and training will be given before the tour begins. After 1 hour kayaking across the lagoon, enter the peaceful mangroves where many bird species can be spotted. If you are lucky you may see snakes, tapirs or even crocodiles. Your guide will take you to all the places and sights to see inside the lagoon.
Travel through these canals for two hours before rejoining the lagoon. Then, take a break on a small beach where you will have time to swim. After, return to Bacalar for a well-deserved rest at the hotel.
Discover the Glorious Cenote Sac Actun
This morning, discover the extraordinary Cenote Sac Actun. Cenotes are natural pools of fresh crystaline water created millions of years ago by a meteorite. With over 150 km (93 miles) of underwater galleries, Sac Actun is the largest network of underground rivers in Mexico. The Maya considered it a gateway to the underworld.
Take the opportunity to swim in a truly unique and magical setting. One thing is certain, you will leave completely transformed.
In the afternoon, you'll depart for Playa del Carmen. You'll arrive with enough time to walk through town and get something to eat while catching the sunset.
Archaeological Sites, Freshwater Wetlands, and the Caribbean Sea
Visit the archeological site of Muyil, located in the northern part of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. This ancient Mayan trading post is the perfect place to admire some of the astounding Mayan temples such as the 17 meter-high building known as "El Castillo" in the incredible forest of Sian Ka'an.
Next, take a trail towards the highest observation point of Sian Ka'an to admire the exuberant vegetation, freshwater wetlands, and a sand dune on the horizon. Once you reach the Muyil lagoon, take a boat across two lagoons connected by a canal that has been in use for many centuries. Xlapak is the name of the building at the beginning of the lazy river where you can enjoy an incredible experience floating in crystal clear water leading all the way to the Caribbean sea.
A delicious vegetarian picnic with seasonal fruits awaits you at the end of your journey.
Explore Underground Rivers and Caves in Xcaret
On the Riviera Maya, you will find the most incredible and magical theme park created by the Mayan gods: Xcaret is a place where Mexico's Caribbean nature is highlighted. Explore this park with its many features. There are natural, ecological or aquatic attractions, such as scuba diving or snorkeling in rivers, swimming in lagoons and exploring old caves where underground rivers flow into the sea.
It is possible to spend an hour in the water with a dolphin which is an incredible, unforgettable experience! You'll love this exciting, action-packed day!
Your last day in Mexico has sadly arrived. Take one last morning to enjoy the beautiful city of Playa Del Carmen. Stroll through the streets, eat some delicious last meals, and do some last-minute souvenir shopping.
Soon, it will be time to pack your bags. Your friendly driver will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport. It may be the end of your trip, by you'll have memories from your amazing vacation in Mexico that will last you a lifetime.
