Welcome to Exotic Mexico City!
A Tour Around Bustling Mexico City
After breakfast, your city tour will start on the large Zocalo square, with the largest Cathedral in the Americas, built on the site of the former Grand Aztec Temple 'Teocalli'.
Discover different chapels and altars adorned with gold, including the beautiful ‘Altar of Forgiveness’.
The Palacio Nacional was built on top of the Palace of Moctezuma and features frescos painted by muralist Diego Rivera. The Templo Mayor is a relic of the ancient Aztec capital Tenochtitlan.
In the South of the city, you will have lunch on a boat on Lake Xochimilco. Appreciate the festive colors and flavors of Mexico accompanied by Mariachi music.
Visit the small bohemian village of Coyoacan, with charming little squares and cobblestone streets and the amazing Frida Kahlo Museum. Around the corner, you will find Leon Trotsky’s exile home, where he lived 3 years before his assassination.
Visit the Ancient Magnificent Teotihuacan
Today, you’ll visit the surrounding areas of Mexico City. Explore the 17th-century Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the most important religious site of Latin America and a major pilgrimage site for Roman Catholics from all over the world. Also, take a look at the Old Basilica which is slowly sinking into the ground.
Afterward, head to the archeological site of Teotihuacan with the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the Temple of the Feathered Serpent (Quetzalcóatl), the Temple of the Feathered Snails and the Palace of the Jaguars. The 'City of the Gods' was built in the seventh century and was probably the world’s most populated city at that time with its 200,000 inhabitants.
Spend time at an Obsidian workshop. This volcanic glass-stone was once one of the most important materials in Mesoamerica.
End your day with tasting different flavors of Tequila.
Journey to the Colonial City of Queretaro
On the way to the colonial city of Queretaro, you will stop in the magical town of Tepotzotlan. Admire its impressive religious architecture, particularly the Church of San Francisco Javier, one of the most magnificent buildings in Mexico and stroll through the handicraft market.
After, visit the archeological site of Tula, the ancient capital of the Toltec civilization with its impressive statues 'Los Atlantes', massive columns, each carved in the likeness of Toltec warriors.
In the evening, arrive in Queretaro, a remarkable town built in classic architecture, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Walk through numerous stately houses, fountains, churches, and convents, and relax on shady plazas. The Santa Clara Church is particularly interesting: the simplicity of its façade makes a strong contrast with the exuberant interior decoration.
Go to the Gigantic Monolith of Peña de Bernal
Another wonderful day for traveling. Today you will travel west through the state of Queretaro to visit Peña de Bernal. This gigantic rock formation is approximately 300 m high and the 3rd largest monolith in the world.
Later in the morning, travel up the mountains and admire the incredible landscape of the Sierra Gorda Nature Reserve.
Arrive in Pinal de Amoles, nestled on top of the mountains. This is a charming village with beautiful balconies, narrow alleys and a small square with a monument, dedicated to the miners and in honor of the vocation that gave birth to this beautiful village in 1606.
Spend the night in your cabin before starting your Sierra Gorda adventure tomorrow morning.

Journey to Cave of Swallows & Surreal Garden
A quick coffee and pastry will help some energy before you head towards the “Cave of Swallows” (Sótano de las Golondrinas), a spectacular vertical cave, featuring a more than 300-meter drop.
After a short but challenging hike, you’ll arrive at Mexico's flagship cave whose sheer walls are home to thousands of birds – including the white-collared swifts and green parakeets – leaving their cave-nests and spiraling into the sky at sunrise.
Late morning, visit Xilitla one of the most magical places in Mexico. Edward James created this incredible architectural maze of columns and buildings, structured around a waterfall.
The sculptor and poet created sculptures that blend with the exuberant vegetation and waterfalls over 70 meters high and spent years adding quirks and details to create columns that look like giant flowers, gothic archways, and dramatic gates.
