After visiting the eastern national park of Andasibe, you will make a rural walk so that you can discover people's rural way of life in the Highlands of Madagascar. Then, you will head southwards to take the famous FCE train.
The latter is known for the fact that the journey take you through the south-eastern rainforest, passing by falls and huge forested mountains and stopping in crowded station where people would sell food to the passengers through the wagon windows, to finally reach the coastal city of Manakara. There, you will enjoy a free-day before heading back to the center of Madagascar where you will visit the Ranomafana rainforest to meet lemurs.
From Ranomafana, you will directly make your way to the Isalo National park in order to discover its amazing landscapes. From there, you will head further to the South and will enjoy a free day by sea and beaches.

Welcome to Madagascar!
Get down at Ivato airport in Madagascar. Your visa can be issued at the airport.
After getting your luggage, you should exchange money right away. Afterward, your driver will bring you to the Belvedere hotel, a charming hotel located right in the city center.
Drive To Lovely Andasibe
After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive eastward to Andasibe, a journey of about 138 km. Andasibe has a national park of 810 hectares. This national park is considered one of the nicest and well-known parks of Madagascar.
There, you will have time to visit some private parks at night at your charge. Start with the Mitsinjo park which has many animals, trees, and flower species to see.
You can meet lemurs there as well, but the private park is well-known for its diversity of amphibian species, especially the colored frogs and for its large amount of reptile species notably the bright-colored chameleon, lots of geckos and snakes. Vakona Private Park is another opportunity which is famous for its lemurs' islands and its crocodile park.
Visit The Andasibe National Park
You will spend the morning visiting the Andasibe National Park. There, you will find 11 species of lemurs, many species of birds, large chameleons, an orchid park, rosewood trees, and lianas.
In this forest, the largest of the lemurs is found - the Indri. You can choose between different kind of hikes: from two- to eight-hour hikes.
Tour Scenic Ambatolampy
Today, you will begin your adventure to the South of Madagascar with a six to seven hours' drive towards Antsirabe. On the National Road 7, you will see Ambatolampy, a small town at 1500m altitude, considered as the coldest town of Madagascar due to the mountain range of Ankaratra.
There is a possibility of visiting a small family factory that produces aluminum cooking pots and other kitchen utensils, which will be later sold everywhere on the red island. Arrive in Antsirabe in the afternoon.
Experience The Farmer Lifestyle
Today, you will begin your experience of the daily farmer life on the Highland. You will also travel through the hinterlands. This draw is an ideal way to learn more about the highland with its use and customs.
By car, you will be brought to Ambohidrano at 6 km West of Antsirabe. From here, you will begin the walking tour. Depending on the season (June - August), exhumation or circumcision ceremonies can be attended to.
First, you will pass a village with authentic blacksmiths, Mandritsara, then past several farmers villages. You will finally stop in Fiadanana.
Marvel At The Sahambavy Village
Today, you will head to the Sahambavy region. First, you will drive about two hours to reach the city of Ambositra, the city of Malagasy craftsmen.
You may want to visit the sculptors during their working hours if you can. They are the "Zafimaniry", an ethnic group with Asiatic origin, particularly known for their beautiful wood sculptures and marquetry. Afterward, you will drive about two more hours and will reach the Sahambavy village.
The latter is known for its greenery, its rice fields and for its tea plantation. Once there, you will admire the tea plantation of Sahambavy.
Take The Fantastic FCE Train
Today, you will have a wonderful experience. You will take the secular FCE (Fianarantsoa-Cote-Est) train. During this 8 to 9 hours journey, you can easily meet people coming from Antaimoro, Betsimisaraka and Betsileo ethnie.
The train makes a stop in each station. After this trip, you will arrive in Manakara. You will stay in a hotel near the sea.
Spend A Leisurely Day At Manakara
After the day spent on the train, you will have a day to spend at your leisure in Manakara.
You can enjoy the sea and the beach while admiring the sunrise in the morning.
Reach Beautiful Ranomafana
Today, you will drive further about 150km to the north to reach Ranomafana with its rainforest rich in endemic fauna and flora.
Ranomafana has a national park with impressive waterfalls, hot springs, lemurs, birds, and other creatures.
Be Amazed By The Ranomafana National Park
Enjoy one full day to visit the beautiful Ranomafana National Park. An experienced local guide, that you can easily book on the spot, will lead you during today's hike to discover the place which hides the most diverse plant species of Madagascar.
This park, of which the surface consists of granite, is stretched over 39,222 acres with many waterfalls between the rock formations. The climate is tropical with rainfall of 2700 mm per year and the park holds at least 12 species of lemurs, about 70 species of reptiles and amphibians along with 90 species of butterflies.
This tropical rainforest is known for its different types of half-monkeys, such as Hapalemur Dore, the Grand Hapalemur griseus and Hapalemur. You'll also find many chameleons and an abundance of beautiful flora.
Visit the Anja Park And See Lemurs
This day, you will drive to Ranohira, a drive which will take 6 hours. You will first drive through Fianarantsoa. Then, you will arrive in Ambalavao.
Ambalavao is known for its weekly zebu market. Here, you have the possibility to visit the small manufacture of the "Antaimoro paper", still made by hand and using the traditional methods of the old Egypt. But, after just a few minutes’ drive from Ambalavao, you can visit the private lemurs’park called Anjà Park.
This is a reserve run by the local community which hides plenty of cultural and historical remains. After the visit, you will head to Ranohira which is a village near the Isalo National Park. The landscape you drive through today gets drier and you will drive through a steppe-like area until you finally arrive at the beautiful mountains of the Isalo Massif.
Go Hiking in Isalo National Park
After your breakfast, embark on your hike in the Isalo National Park. One of the several possibilities for things you can do is walk to the "natural pool", an oasis in the middle of the aridity of the Isalo massif.
On the way, you have the possibility to admire the diversity of landscapes as well as the flora. Once arrived, it is recommended to swim in this pool with clear water, supplied with fresh springs.
In the evening, you can admire the sunset and enjoy a sundowner at "Giorgio's window'. Marvel at a special view during this unique moment.
Arrive In Majestic Tulear
After the breakfast, your car is waiting for you to bring you further to Ifaty, your beach destination. Today's journey leads you on a landscape characterized by high plateaus and vast savannas stretching to the horizon that is limited by impressive mountain ranges.
You first cross the center of the sapphires region. According to experts of precious stones, this place is among the few places on Earth, which is rich in precious stones. The majority of the inhabitants in the village of Manombo are merchants of sapphires and other precious stones.
Later, you will arrive at the end of the National Road 7, in the city of Tulear, which also means "where one can drop its anchor". It is known for its dry and arid landscapes. You have lunch at the botanical garden of the city.
Spend A Free Day In Ifaty
In Ifaty, you will spend one free day. Here, you can relax on the beach or calmly swim because of the coral reefs which protect this place.
You will also be able to book leisure activities on your own and as you want, such as swimming in the turquoise sea, visiting fishermen village or snorkeling. The spiny forest is also worth a visit with its giant Baobab trees.
Today, you will be transferred back to the airport of Tulear. There, you will catch your return flight to Antananarivo.
Upon your arrival in the capital, you will be transferred to a hotel near the airport. Afterward, you will be taken to the international Ivato airport and will leave Madagascar with unforgettable memories.
