Welcome to the Holy Land!
Your 9-day tour of the Holy Land begins today when you land at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel in Nazareth, where you will spend your first four nights in Israel. Relax on the approximately 1.5-hour journey and take in the passing scenery.
Celebrate Mass on the Mount of Beatitudes
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning, then set out to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. The day begins with mass on the Mount of Beatitudes. High on this hill overlooking Israel's beautiful Mediterranean landscape, is where Jesus is said to have spoken to his disciples, first uttering the teachings that are central to the Christian religion, including The Lord's Prayer. Enjoy this peaceful setting that offers views all the way to the Sea of Galiliee.
Next, you will visit the the Church of the Multiplication, which commemorates the miracle that Jesus performed when he multiplied some loaves of bread and fish to feed the mass of people who had gathered with him after his cousin John the Baptist was beheaded by King Herod. Admire the exquisite mosaics.
Visit Important Sites from the Life of the Holy Family
Today, set off on a discovery of Jesus' hometown. Begin the day with a visit to the Basilica of the Annunciation. A venerated site in Christianity, this remarkable basilica is situated on the place where Mary is said to have lived, and where the angel Gabriel appeared to her to share with her the news that she would bear the Son of God.
Nearby, you can visit the cave where the Holy Family is said to have lived, the workshop where St. Joseph worked as a carpenter, and the well where Mary drew water for her family.
Later, the tour continues to Cana, the site of Jesus' first miracle -- the transformation of water to wine for the revelers at the Wedding in Cana.
Renew Your Baptismal Vows on the Banks of the Jordan
Continue your Holy Land Pilgrimage to the Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor. You will celebrate mass at this Francsican Church, which is built on the site where Jesus appeared in a radiant light and spoke with the prophets Moses and Elijah. At this sacred spot, you can enjoy magnificent views of the Valley of Armageddin.
After mass, continue to Yardinet on the River Jordan. This is where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Here, at this powerful place, you will have the chance to renew your own baptismal vows.
Next up is a tranquil boat ride across the Sea of Galilee.
Float in the Buoyant Waters of the Dead Sea
Today we will check out of our hotel in Tel Aviv and get set for the journey to Bethlehem. En route, we will stop at an array of holy sites. Our first stop is the Mount of Temptation in Jericho. This is the spot where Jesus was tempted by the devil during his 40-day fast in the desert. Here, you will see an extraordinary monastery that clings to the side of the rocky cliff.
In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Dead Sea where you can spend some time bathing in these enriching waters. Later, we will see the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, celebrate mass in Bethany, and visit the tomb of Lazarus before continuing on to Bethlehem where we will spend the next four nights.
Visit the Grotto of the Nativity, Where Jesus was Born
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning, then set out to explore the city of Jesus' birth. The day begins with a visit to the Church of the Nativity. This magnificent basilica houses the "Grotto of the Nativity," where Jesus is said to have been born.
Later, we will celebrate mass in the chapel in St Jerome's cave. This is where the fourth-century priest, historian, and scholar translated the Gospels into Latin. Today's tour continues to the Chapel of St Joseph, the Chapel of the Holy Innocents, the Milk Grotto, and the Shepherds' Fields.
Journey to Jerusalem
The Holy Land is rich in sites from the life of Christ, and today you will continue your pilgrimage to the city of Jerusalem. Begin with a group photo at the Mount of Olives. This revered place is mentioned multiple times in the Bible, and most importantly, is the place where Jesus is said to have ascended to heaven. Ancient olive trees grow from these holy hillsides. Marvel at their thick trunks and take in the inspiring views of Jerusalem.
After spending some peaceful moments on the Mount of Olives, continue your tour to the several nearby churches, including the Dome of the Ascension, the Church of the Pater Noster, Dominus Flevit, and The Church of the Assumption with the Tomb of the Virgin Mary.
In the afternoon, celebrate mass at the Church of St Peter in Gallicantu, also known as the "Church of the Cock-Crow.". We will also visit the dungeon where Jesus was held before his crucifixion.
Follow Jesus' Path to his Crucifixion
On your final full day in Jerusalem, take the time to really appreciate this extraordinary setting. This morning after breakfast you will tour the Old City of Jerusalem. We will begin at the Church of St. Anne, a well-preserved church from the time of the Crusades, which marks the site where Mary's mother, St. Anne lived. The church is also situated at the start of the Via Dolorosa, a processional route that follows the path Jesus is said to have followed as he made his way to his crucifixion. We will follow this route to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, then visit the Western Wall, otherwise known as the Wailing Wall.
Goodbye, Holy Land!
Your Holy Land pilgrimage ends today. You have visited so many powerful sites over these last nine days and have surely experienced an extraordinary journey.
At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv to catch your onward flight. We wish you pleasant travels.
