Welcome to Sumba Island!
Welcome to Sumba Island! Your private driver will pick you up from Tambolaka Airport and whisk you away to a lovely hotel with a joint cafe where you can relax and enjoy your first night near Kita Beach.
On the way, you will see glimpses of the daily rural life of the Sumbanese people. Don’t be surprised if the car pulls over to let some animals cross the road — this is normal in the laid-back tropical island village life!
At the hotel, you'll rest, enjoy a good meal, swim in the pool, or go see the beautiful Kita Beach with its powdery white sand and crystal clear, perfectly blue water.
Explore Weekuri Lake and Mandorak Beach
Today you'll head out on a wonderful day trip to explore two beautiful and inspiring places in West Sumba: Weekuri Lake and Mandorak Beach. Weekuri Lake is a stunning natural lagoon, with saltwater that connects to the ocean through an underground passage. You can relax and swim or channel your adventurous side with some cliff jumping!
Just a 5-minute drive away, you'll visit Mandorak Beach. This secluded white sand beach is hugged by dramatic limestone cliffs that will take your breath away. The best spot to enjoy the ocean views is inside the gazebo that sits on top of the reef. After some well-deserved horizon gazing and a swim in these crystal clear waters, you'll visit a traditional Sumbanese house before heading back to the hotel to have a fresh, local dinner.
Visit Exciting Ratenggaro or Mythical Waikabubak
Today you'll have two different options for exciting tours you can take.
Your first option is to get a glimpse of the traditional Sumbanese lifestyle at Retenggaro Village. Here you'll find authentic old-age Sumbanese houses that are unlike anything else on the other archipelago islands. From this unique village, you'll be driven to the scenic Bawana Beach, where you'll climb down to a secluded paradise with soft white sands, clear blue waters, and limestone cliffs of which one is shaped like an arch, giving this beach its iconic look.
Your second option is to explore the thrilling region of Waikabubak. Here, you can see amazing landmarks such as Waikelo Sawah, Bokota Katura Waterfall, Waikabubak City, and the megalithic village of Prai Ljing. You'll spend the night at Rua Beach Resort Sumba, a gorgeous beachfront hotel.
Saying Goodbye to Gorgeous Sumba
On your last day on Sumba Island, you'll indulge in one last delicious island breakfast. There are no activities planned, but you can spend some time at the beach enjoying the sun or wander around the nearby villages.
Soon, it will be time to head back to the airport and say goodbye to beautiful Sumba. A driver will pick you up in time to catch your flight back to Bali. You'll never forget the unique experience you had on Sumba Island!
