Discover the Golden Circle
Your adventure begins when your guide picks you up this morning at your accommodation in Reykjavik. Once the introductions are made, you'll head to the Golden Circle to discover its three emblematic sites.
You’ll be able to walk among lava formations where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates separate and admire the natural beauties of the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park. Then, you’ll be impressed by Geysir and its geyser’s spontaneity. Finally, end this day at Gullfoss Waterfall, one of the most powerful and beautiful falls in the country. Tonight you'll stay on the south coast, in the city of Hella.
Discover Lava Fields, Waterfalls, and Black Sand Beaches
You’ll start the day by crossing vast agricultural plains before the first mountains appear on the horizon. Marvel at Eyjafjallajökull, the famous volcano that erupted in 2010.
Your first stop at the Seljalandfoss waterfall will be refreshing, with a walk behind its wide dash of water -- an amazing experience. You will then continue towards the vast black sand beaches along the south coast. You’ll pass the region of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, covered with lava fields, due to the Laki volcano's eruption.
See the Icebergs at a Glacial Lagoon
This morning you will discover the jewels of Skaftafell National Park, located opposite the Vatnajökull Glacier.
Between the wooded landscape, the beautiful waterfall of Svartifoss, and the imposing glacial tongue of Svínafellsjökull, your guide will choose the best hike depending on the weather.
In the afternoon, you will be able to admire the icebergs at Fjallsárlón and Jökulsárlón's glacial lagoon. You can then walk along the famous Diamond Beach, where icebergs end up stranded along a beautiful black sand beach.
Overnight in the region of Djúpivogur.
Discover Iceland's Eastern Fjords
The beauty of the East lies in its fishing villages, nestled in between fjords, pebble beaches, and dizzying mountains.
You will start the day by discovering Djúpivogur with its offbeat artistic imprint. You will then learn in Fáskrúðsfjörður more about the history of sailors who died at sea, coming to fish for cod in the cold and dark waters of the North Sea (visit of the museum is possible in addition - fees applies).
We will then drive to the beautiful remote village of Bakkagerdi (Only for the trip in June) or in another village in September.
Witness Nesting Puffins
In June, puffins are nesting in Iceland. We will have the chance (on this trip only) to observe them from a close distance. The rest of the day is dedicated to a long drive along the deserted landscape of the North. After a brief stop at Egilsstadir, where your guide will be filling up fuel, this amazing road that goes through mountains and desert will lead you to lake Myvatn. For almost 200 kilometers, you will not see any houses, only large deserted areas. The only possible stop is 8 km from the main road, in the most isolated farm in the country, Möðrudalur. Then you discover the famous waterfall Dettifoss, the most powerful in the country. Arrival in Myvatn at the end of the day.
Soak in Enriching Hot Springs
There are very few kilometers to drive today. Instead, there will be more time to enjoy the amazing volcanic sites around the lake. Your guide will select the best hikes, according to the weather and desires of the group.
Walking in the heart of Dimmuborgir lava formations, gaining height from the summit of the Hverfell crater, walking on the still steaming lava flows of Krafla or going to the Grjótagjá lava tunnel are a few possibilities for this day.
In the late afternoon, you can relax in the warm waters of Myvatn baths, turquoise pools that are rich in silica at 39 degrees Celcius.
Go Whale Watching
This morning you will head towards Akureyri, the capital of the North. En route, discover the beautiful falls of Godafoss (the fall of the Gods).
After a short visit at Akureyri, you’ll embark on a sea excursion to observe the humpback whales, in the heart of the fjord Eyjafjördur.
After this exceptional natural spectacle, you will arrive in Siglufjörður, the old capital of herring, where your accommodation will be for the night.
See Unique Turf Houses
In the morning, you will explore some of the sites of Trollaskagi peninsula, it will be possible to stop at the beautiful Hofsós swimming pool which overlooks the ocean and visit emblematic sites like the traditional turf farms of Glaumbaer or the old archbishop of Iceland a great way to know more about the history of the country. At the end of the day, you’ll get to your accommodation near the town of Blönduós.
Encounter a Rock Shaped Like a Troll
The day begins with beautiful views from the Vatnsnes peninsula, along a dirt road that will drop you at the foot of the amazing rock Hvítserkur, some even say that it could be a petrified troll!
Enjoy a walk along the beach to admire the largest seals colony of the country. You’ll then continue towards the West with a few stops en route before arriving at your accommodation located in the Borgarfjörður region.
Arrive Back in Reykjavik
On the final day of your Iceland tour, head to Reykjavik, but first, make a stop in the region of Reykholt to admire the beautiful waterfall of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss.
You will then take the road around the Hvalfjordur fjord, the whale fjord. Take in the beautiful views on your way to Reykjavik, where you will arrive in the afternoon. Those staying longer can enjoy free time in the capital city, while those flying home today will transfer to Keflavik Airport. We wish you pleasant travels!
