A Plethora of Activities in Guillermo

With the day to spend at your own pace and leisure, why not choose something a little more active?

The area has recently morphed into Cuba's most prized kiteboarding spot thanks to its stiff north-coast winds. Or maybe now’s the time you learn to surf and catch some waves with lessons at a local surf school.

If you are more of a fan of unwinding, then pull up a sunbed and recline as you bask beneath the warm Caribbean sun. No matter the decision, be comforted by the fact that there's enough time to do everything.

Cayo Guillermo - Santa Clara

Dive into History in Santa Clara

When you think of Cuba, you think about Che Guevarra. After the Cuban revolution, Che took refuge in Santa Clara. The battle of Santa Clara was the most important battle fought during the Revolution, as it became clear to Batista that his days as a dictator were soon over. This city is now the final resting place of Che Guevara and 16 of his men, who were all killed in 1967 in Bolivia by orders of the American CIA.

Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevarra is still present in Cuba everywhere you look: on posters with a big smile, on plaques holding a big Havana cigar, and on postcards, bent over looking at a game of chess. To learn everything about his life, visit the Plaza de la Revolución and the museum Memorial Che

Take a seat at the Park Vidal and enjoy the city with the locals. A visit to the mausoleum and the museum of Che Guevara is a must-do when in Santa Clara.
