Welcome to Colombia!
Welcome to Cartagena! We arranged for you to be picked up at the airport by a private driver and taken to your hotel. Relax in the car during the drive as it is approximately 15-20 minutes to your hotel. On the way to the hotel, your English-speaking guide will give you all the recommendations on how to make the most out of your stay in Colombia.
The hotel is called Santa Catalina. It is located in the heart of the bustling historic center of Cartagena and offers fully- equipped charming lofts and rooms in a renovated 17th-century building. The heated rooftop swimming pool with sun terrace offers great views of the historical city. It is a great choice for travelers interested in architecture, food, and history.
Day at San Pedro de Majagua
The Natural Park of Islas del Rosario is an archipelago made up of 27 islands, located 45 minutes by boat from Cartagena. San Pedro de Majagua is located on Isla Grande and it is named after Pierre Daguet, a French painter who in 1955 designed his house and studio there. You’ll enjoy coral beaches and diverse reef fauna, which make this place ideal for relaxing and swimming. The tour includes transport (hotel-pier-hotel) and transfer by boat to the island and back (Cartagena-Islas-Cartagena).
Flying to Medellin
You will be picked up at your hotel and driven to the Airport to board your flight to Medellín. Once you land you will be taken straight on your Medellin Panoramic City Tour.
The tour starts along the river avenue, upon arriving at the city center where you will visit the Plaza San Antonio, Botero square. You enter the Museum of Antioquia, then, walk to the metro station from where you will take a panoramic tour and board the train to Santo Domingo. Here you will enjoy a cultural interpretation tour. To round up this discovery of the city you will head to a viewpoint of the city. Afterward, you will return to the University station where a driver will be waiting for you. From there you will travel on to Pueblito Paisa where you will have another cultural tour as well as a fun food tasting experience. Finally, you will reach the pink zone of El Poblado sector and visit Lleras Park.
El Peñol and Guatape Tour
You will be picked up at your hotel. The tour today starts from the city of Medellin, going through the municipality of Peñol until you reach Guatapé. You can enjoy the view of the reservoir that is one of the main energy providers of Colombia. You have the option to try out different marine-based activities, which are not included in the tour.
Afterwards you will visit the Rock of Guatapé which is approximately 220 meters high. Even though it is not a part of the tour package, you can opt to climb until reach to the viewpoint, from where you will enjoy a 360-degree view of the Guatapé reservoir and its neighboring lands. Inside the municipality of Guatapé, you will go on a guided tour of the streets, where a specialized guide will tell you all about the local history and culture. After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Medellin.
Coffee tasting Tour
From your hotel, you are transferred to Medellin Airport and board the flight to Pereira. On arrival, we will head out to the municipality of Buenavista and take a tour around Hacienda San Alberto, to learn about the fascinating world of coffee. The Hacienda offers the most extraordinary views, where you will be able to appreciate the breathtaking beauty of the coffee plantations in the mountains, south of el Quindio department. Today you will not only learn the step-by-step process of making coffee, but also be able to taste this high-quality coffee that receives international recognition and praise from countries like Russia, South Korea, and Belgium.
Visiting Filandia, Cocora Valley & Salento
After breakfast your guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you to Filandia. There, you will embark on a tour through the colonial streets and visit the Quindío viewpoint. Next, you'll stop at a basketry workshop and enjoy a typical lunch with a non-alcoholic beverage and dessert in a local restaurant. Afterward you will journey onwards to Cocora Valley to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Once you get there you will be greeted with the cocktail "Canelazo" and then with the eco guide's assistance, you'll start the introductory tour to the natural reserve of Cocora. You will enter the fog forest known for its biodiversity, where you'll find the highest wax palm of the world and connect with the earth doing a special palm planting ritual.
Lastly, you visit the village of Salento, where you'll have a walking tour through its colonial streets, craft workshops and a viewpoint.
Flight to Bogota
You are picked up at the hotel and driven to the airport to catch your flight to Armenia. Upon arrival you will be taken to your 5-star hotel Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia.
The name Victoria Regia refers to an elegant Colombian water lily that floats in the Amazon and is known for the strength of its leaves. The hotel reflects its beauty and vigor. True to its architectural concept of elegant lines and rich materials, this 5-star hotel is the ideal combination of the classic and contemporary. Renowned architect Miguel Soto has achieved a fine blend of elegant and modern French style, with characteristical local features, creating a welcoming and distinctive design. The French art de Vivre can be seen in every detail.
Enjoy Bogota and Zipaquira
On this 8th day you will enjoy a visit to the Paloquemao market in the city center. You'll be amazed by the variety of colors and tastes you will find here. Also, you will get to taste different tropical fruits that you will hardly find anywhere else in the world. Later, you visit the historic center, taking in the Colon Theater, San Carlos Palace, San Ignacio Church, Nariño Presidential Palace, Bolivar Square, the Capitol, the City Hall and the Cathedral. Afterwards you will head to the Gold Museum and finally up Monserrate hill by cable car.
After this tour you will be driven to the town of Zipaquira located 49 kilometers from Bogotá. On the way, you'll enjoy the panoramic view of the Sabana countryside and El Puente del Comun.
Zipaquira is known for its Salt Cathedral which was built inside a salt mine—considered a major breakthrough in Colombian architecture.
Flight to Galapagos
It's time to say goodbye to Colombia, and enjoy your last morning in Bogota. A representative will meet you at your hotel and drive you to the airport for your flight to Galapagos. Our guide will be waiting for you at the airport on San Cristobal Island where the tour will begin.
After checking in and eating lunch in a local restaurant head to the San Cristobal Interpretation Center where our guide will explain how the Galapagos Islands were formed, the evolution of species, the migration of the animals and the human settlements within the Galapagos.
Then you will make your way to “Cerro Tijeretas” or Frigate Hill. Here you can do some snorkeling to see colorful fish, starfish, sea urchins and to enjoy the crystal clear waters. The afternoon continues with a visit to Playa Carola, where you can enjoy the beautiful beach before returning to the hotel.
Snorkelling through crystal clear waters
Today you will explore more of the Galapagos islands' diversity. First you will head to 'Leon Dormido', a spot known as the Sleeping Lion (1 hour boat ride).
The first stop will be right before Kicker Rock (going down of Cerro Tijeretas) for some fine swimming and snorkeling. Kicker Rock itself is considered one of the most outstanding snorkeling sites in the Galapagos. The excursion consists of two snorkeling activities, one in the morning and one in the afternoon after lunch which will be served on board.
After the snorkelling you will make your way towards a deserted beach to observe wildlife and relax. In the afternoon you will head back to the boat and return to San Cristobal.
Highlands and La Lobería
After breakfast, the day begins with a short bus or truck ride to visit the Highlands of San Cristobal. Along the way, you will make a stop at the Mirador de la Soledad where you will enjoy a magnificent view of the island. Afterward, you will make your way to the Laguna del Junco, the only freshwater lagoon in San Cristobal, where frigate birds come to wash their wings. You will then make a short stop at Playa de Puerto Chino before eating lunch in the highlands. On the way back you will pass by the spot where the island‘s locals cultivate their food and the famous Galapagos coffee.
In the afternoon get ready for an excursion to La Lobería. You will drive northwest of downtown Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and arrive on a scenic sea lion-laden beach. Here you can see fascinating creatures like iguanas, lava lizards and frigates. You will also snorkel in color-filled waters with turtles and sea lions.

On the final day we recommend waking up early to have enough time to get ready for the transfer-out from Puerto Baquerizo Airport where you will catch your return flight to either Quito or Guayaquil.
