Welcome to Santiago!
Welcome to Santiago! Upon arrival at the airport you will be transferred (in a private vehicle) to your hotel. Visit the Chilean capital nestled at the foot of the Andes.
Although it has become a modern and active city, some older neighborhoods have maintained their atmosphere and a romantic charm. You will visit the Plaza de Armas, San Francisco Church, the Bellavista area and Cerro San Cristobal.
Drive through the desert
Today you will arrive in Calama where you can pick up your rental car at the airport. Drive to the village of San Pedro, an oasis in the middle of the desert.
Later, depart for the Cordillera de la Sal (salt mountains) and the Moon Valley where you can walk in a magnificent landscape made of sand dunes and sculpted calcareous mountains.
Watch the sunset before going back to San Pedro.
Gaze at the southern night sky
Leave for the north of the Salar de Atacama and the lagoon Cejar. Take a swim in the lagoon - You will discover that you can float here thanks to the extreme salt concentration. Continue on to the Ojos del Salar, another lagoon where you can swim.
Stop at the Laguna Tebenquinche to enjoy the beautiful colors of the Licancabur volcano. In the afternoon, you will go to visit the Yerbas Buenas Valley, where the Domeyko Cordillera, Andean Cordillera, and the Salt Cordillera meet. This is where you will visit the petroglyphs of different periods. You will then continue up the Arco Iris Valley, which offers multiple colors due to the presence of clay and several minerals.
End your visit at the village of the Rio Grande where you can meet potters and farmers. At nightfall, you will join an astronomer at San Pedro observatory for a tour of the southern sky.
Discover the Atacama Salt Flats
Your tour starts from your hotel in the morning after breakfast and will be all about the discovery of the Atacama Salt Flat and its surrounding attractions.
The Toconao and Socaire villages, the Quebrada de Jerez, Chaxa, Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons with their volcanoes are the must-see of this visit.
You will have lunch in a restaurant in Socaire and you will return to San Pedro in the evening.
Marvel at the Tatio Geysers
Depart from the hotel towards the Tatio to admire the geysers roaring in the cold air of the Altiplano. The valley looks like a giant pot with water spurting out in different places.
This geological curiosity results from a ground still frozen and boiling-hot clear water springs. Go on an observation of numerous volcanic formations and marvel at the natural beauty. You will return to San Pedro in the early afternoon.
Visit the Nao Victoria museum
You will arrive at Punta Arenas and pick up your rental car to then drive on to Puerto Natales. It is the town next to the Señoret Canal and the Torres del Paine National Park, which is one of the most spectacular parks of South America.
It is also worth visiting the Nao Victoria Museum, which is located in Punta Arenas.
Enter the magnificent Torres del Paine National Park
Today you will visit the Torres del Paine National Park. The first stop will be to Milodon Caves, a natural monument. There are three caves, the largest measuring 30 meters high and 200 meters long. The main attraction here is the discovery in 1896 of remains of a prehistoric animal, a giant herbivore that lived and disappeared 10,000 years ago.
You will then continue towards Torres del Paine National Park, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1978. You will enter the park at the lagoon area to enjoy a panoramic view of the famous Paine Towers.
You will discover the lakes Nordenskjold and Pehoé and the cascade "del salto Grande". You will enjoy a panoramic view of the Paine Massif and its glacier and the "Cuernos" del Paine. This park will amaze you with its massive turquoise lakes.
Visit the stunning Grey Glacier
After breakfast discover the most beautiful lakes in Patagonia (Pehoé, Nordenskjöld, Sarmiento) with different lagoons where you can see guanacos and other animals.
At noon you will board a comfortable boat to cross the Lake Grey and see the very impressive Grey Glacier.
It is part of the southern ice field and is the third biggest ice sheet in the world after Antarctica and Greenland.
Cross the Patagonian Pampa
