As your flight descends into the hills of Rio de Janeiro and you see the ocean sparkling in the sun, you realize you've arrived in paradise. Take in the city on the way to your hotel and use your first evening to relax and recover from the flight. Your hotel is located right on the legendary Copacabana and you have the most famous beaches in the world just outside your door.
Explore Rio’s World-famous Landmarks
Take your first full day in Rio to get familiar with the city’s magnificent landmarks. Let your guide take you to the world-famous Corcovado. Enjoy the panoramic view of the city as it stretches across countless bays, while the ocean washes onto the sandy beaches. Take the scenic route on the way back down and explore the fascinating neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Once one of the wealthiest residential neighborhoods of Rio, it now shelters a diverse bohemian population. Walk through this area to get a taste of its quaint atmosphere. You then descend towards Lapa, home of the famous colored stairs, or "Escadaria do Convento da Santa Teresa". Before the day is over, one more iconic landmark awaits: take the cable car up the world-renowned Sugarloaf Mountain and enjoy view upon the Cidade Maravilhosa from the ocean.
Explore Rio’s Modern City Center
Today it’s time to explore a different part of Rio de Janeiro. This city will astound you with its diversity, its urban yet deeply relaxed charm. Explore Rio’s city center where colossal avenues framed by magnificent modern glass structures sit right next to quaint, small streets and their little affordable shops. You decide which parts of this cocktail of modernism and tradition you’d like to visit. Maybe the Imperial Municipal, a replica of the French Opera Garnier is on your list, or rather the Casa da França, the old customs house? Or how about the National History Museum or the Metropolitan Cathedral? It’s up to you and your guide will always be by your side to provide you with more fascinating insights about the places you visit.
Be Overwhelmed by Magnificent Iguaçu Falls
It's time to leave Rio, but don't be sad: your next stop will be just as breathtaking, but in a much different way. The destination of your flight reads Iguaçu Falls, the largest system of waterfalls in the world. In a private vehicle, head to the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu Park to admire the gorgeous panoramic view. Over 185,000 acres large, the park was created in 1939 and its ecological reserve has been recognized by UNESCO as a Natural Heritage Site. Pass by hundreds of small waterfalls before reaching the finale, Floriano Fall. From here, enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the “Devil’s Canyon”. If you wish, you can arrange a short helicopter ride, and experience this natural wonder from above.
View the Falls from Argentina
Your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and travel with you to the Argentinian side of the park. On the way, make a stop at the symbolic and panoramic triple border point that connects Brazil to both Argentina and Paraguay. Arrive at the Argentinian side of the falls, where you can get an even closer look at the “Devil’s Canyon”. If that's not enough for you, how about a boat ride into the heart of the falls? Prepare to get wet and get personal with the mighty Iguaçu Falls. Afterwards, return to your hotel in Brazil to spend the evening at your leisure.
Return to Tropical Ocean Beaches
From the deep south of Brazil, it's time to return to tropical beaches. Today, you board a flight to Fortaleza, in the northeast of the country. From the airport, a private vehicle will take you to the laid-back seaside village of Guajirú. But you don't have to wait until you get there to enjoy the warm sun and the tropical beauty of this part of Brazil. Make a pit stop at Lagoinha and jump into the crystal clear ocean, or just take a walk along the palm-lined beach. Once you arrive at your hotel, the remainder of the day is all yours. Lean back and relax, or how about a stroll through town or sharing a drink with the locals? It's up to you!
Villages Frozen in Time
Wake up early to enjoy more of the luxurious Guajiru beach. If you wish, take a horseback ride along the coast or climb into a traditional boat. Afterwards, it’s time to head to the village of Flexieiras, a village that seems to be frozen in time. Explore the quaint village before moving on towards the fishing villages of Mundáu and Moitas, traversing many beautiful beaches on the way. Arrive in Icaraí da Amontada, where you will hop into your vehicle to travel to the city of Jijoca. Gaze upon the stunning landscape on the way, as the trail wanders through blue lagoons and picturesque sand dunes. When you arrive, take in the stunning Prea beach close to Jericoacoara - you will never want to leave.
Enjoy the Lagoons!
Depart your hotel in the morning for a buggy excursion with a local driver. Travel towards the beautiful Lagoa Azul and the Lagoa do Paraíso. On the way, stop at the Pedra Furada, a magnificent holed stone, and the Árvore da Preguiça, the “laziness tree”. Make sure you have your camera! Continue to the lagoons, where you can spend the day swimming in the blue waters or lazing in the hammocks. Enjoy lunch in one of the local restaurants. Lay back and relax before you travel back to Jericoacoara in the afternoon. Upon arrival, the evening is yours to do as you please. Discover more of the city or spend time in your hotel.
Scenic Route to Parnaíba
Today, embark on your journey to the Delta of Parnaíba. You will be picked up at your hotel by your driver and taken on a scenic route along the seashore. Visit one of the regions most beautiful landscapes as you travel to the village of Tatajuba. Filled with dunes, a coconut palm plantation, and sea loch, you will not know where to turn your head. Continue on with your first river crossing of the day at Guriú beach and watch the fishermen at work. Afterwards, cross the Coreaú River to get to the small village of Camocim, where you can watch the fishermen's’ boats rock on the waters. Continue to your final destination of the day in the city of Parnaíba, where you will spend the night. Before the sun goes down, climb on board a boat to watch the guarás, or scarlet ibis, nest in the light of the dying sun.
Head to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park
Today, say goodbye to the beautiful Delta of Parnaíba and head to one of the highlights of your trip: Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Depart your hotel in the morning and travel via motorboat through the Delta waterways. Observe the rich Delta flora and fauna. Maybe you will get a glimpse of caimans, monkeys, or kingfishers along the way - they are commonly sighted in the Delta. Travel along the water to Tutoia harbor, where you will be greeted by your driver. Together, drive to the Caburé shoal along the scenic coastal roads, where you can enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon, you will again travel in a boat to one of the gates of the park in Atins.
A Walk in the Park
Wake up early to get the most of your day in the spectacular, world-renown park. Take a short 4WD ride to Canto do Atins, where it is time to get out of the car. Walk through the sand dunes and beautiful lagoons and enjoy the stunning scenery that surrounds you before reaching the idyllic Lagoa Verde. Take a dip in the lagoon and relax your muscles as you swim through the cool waters. Afterwards, travel to a local restaurant where you can taste the famous shrimps of Dona Lu Iza before heading back to your hotel.
Travel along Tropical Rivers
Depart Atins in the morning and travel by boat on the Rio Preguiças. Make a stop at the Mandacaru lighthouse, where you can climb the stairs for a spectacular panoramic view of the region. Continue your boat ride by stopping at the “pequenos Lençois”, or small Lençois. Enjoy the ride through canals and mangroves as you approach Barreirinhas. As you come closer, observe the many small villas that line the riverbanks as you return back to civilization. Upon arrival at the port, you will be transferred to São Luis to enjoy your last night in Brazil.
